My wife and I spent two weeks in Buenos Aires and Patagonia over Christmas 2012. This was the highlight of our trip and I cannot say enough great things about the service, rooms, food, and organization.
First, when I booked the hotel, the staff was extremely helpful in recommending and booking our excursions. We did the Perito Moreno Minitrek and the Estancia Cristina 4x4 to see the Upsala Glacier. Both excursions were excellent and were handled perfectly by the staff (included in our hotel bill). At dinner, we would choose our lunch for the following day's excursion. We opted to include a half bottle of white and red wine for each excursion and absolutely loved our picnics! The lunches were fantastic. Every member of the hotel staff was familiar with our itinerary and accommodated us in every way possible. Note that each night the staff would leave a small card on your bedside table reminding you what time to be up in the lobby for your next excursion.
Each night at dinner we had excellent meals. The wine list exceeded our expectations given the remoteness of the area. If I remember correctly, EOLO had a wine list superior to that of Chez Manu, the ‘best restaurant’ in Ushuaia, a far bigger city in Patagonia. We had a great time after dinner conversing with other guests and the staff. For comparisons sake, we stayed at many of the top ranked TA hotels in Argentina during our trip of Buenos Aires - El Calafate - El Chalten - Ushuaia. I do not like using travel agents and had to heavily rely on TA for our Patagonia trip, this hotel included.
This hotel stood out as the best of our trip, by a long shot. Discussions with other travelers indicated this is the best hotel in Argentine Patagonia. Highly recommended.More
