Despite my initial trepidation about the location (arriving about 10:30pm on a Wed evening with trash overflowing the dumpsters in the street) this hotel turned out to be very nice with great service. As we were going on a cruise for a month, we had 4 large suitcases and a couple of small bags. After filling out the registration form, one of the front desk clerks helped us take the luggage to the room. He refused to take a tip! Room was spacious and nicely appointed. The bathroom included a spa tub, a shower stall, toilet and bidet.
I went downstairs to the lobby area to use the hotel's computer to send emails to my children we had arrived safely. Used one of these computers every day to communicate with them as well as "fine-tune" our plans in Buenos Aires. Never had a problem with service.
Room has a door hanger to say "Do Not Disturb" or on the reverse, "Please service room". Very efficient.
Breakfast was adequate and served later than free breakfasts in American hotels. The croissants were especially delicious.
Front desk staff during the day spoke English well, night staff was a bit more problematic as well as the Sunday person. He did finally understand we needed a cab to the cruise ship port and got us one large enough to accommodate our bags. Please note: if the hotel calls a taxi for you, the driver adds an extra 6 pesos (about $1 USD) to your fare.
The pool as stated in a previous review is not usable. Deck and furniture falling apart.
Florida Street is less than a block away and Lavalle is easily reached in about 5 minutes.
There is a convenience store with beer, wine and some liqueur directly across the street. Hotel also has a small bar.
