“Great first night.”

We stayed at the lodge for our first night of a 3 night safari (staying in one of the rooms, not a tent). The rooms were clean and the food was good. The only downside was the drinks were a bit overpriced compared with the other lodges we stayed at (250 ksh here for a glass of lemonade).

The pool is clean and very welcome after the dust of Tsavo East.

There is a great veiwing platform for the watering hole, however at night there were so many insects the floor became a bit crunchy!!! :-)

Any questions please ask

“Good value,basic but clean”

We stayed for one night on safari to Tsavo East and were impressed with the rooms, large with two kingsize beds in each room. It was very hot overnight but think this is the case in all lodges, especially when we were used to the airconditioning at the Voyager. The bathroom was clean and serviceable. The public areas were comfortable. The food was average at best as was the service but that is not what you go there for. There was a lovely swimming pool and nice area in the shade for snoozing for an hour or so. We did some fantastic game drives from the lodge and it is close to the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage which we visited in the evening...something we will never forget.

“Voi wildlife lodge - spirits extortionate prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2010

I stayed overnight at the Voi whilst on a Tsavo East 2 day safari. There were 5 of us and after a long day we decided to have a drink at the bar. We ordered 5 large drinks; a mixture Bacardi, Vodka and Gin plus a mixture. The cost was £45 for the round..! e.g. £9 per drink.

Comparing it to the UK it was probably double the cost and 4 times the cost of the same drinks at our normal hotel.

I discussed the prices with the hotel manager who was unable to help.

I recommend to all spirit drinkers that you DO NOT buy and spirit drinks from this place unless you are wiling to pay the extortionate prices.

Having said that, apart from the prices, it was a great place.

“I've never been happier to have been mistaken!”

I thought we were staying at Voi Safari Lodge on our pre-booked safari package, and before we left the UK I read the TripAdvisor reviews with utter dismay. We then stayed at Voi, and I thought "God, TripAdvisor reviewers are getting ridiculously picky - how could you describe this place as 'budget crap'? It's fabulous!" It's only now, after I've returned to the UK, I realise I'd read reviews of Voi Safari Lodge, but we stayed at Voi Wildlife Lodge. Thank God it was that way round!
The Wildlife Lodge was lovely. I agree with other reviewers - staff not quite as nice as other places, but setting great, room very good, reception/bar/restaurant etc striking and well designed. Food the usual buffets - a bit bland, some dishes a bit school-dinnery, but we found that most places in Kenya.
Do have a massage - I had the 30min back & shoulder because it was only 600Ksh, ie about £5. It was really really excellent, in a treatment room that could have been in Knightsbridge.

“Great stay at the Voi - minus the mosquitos...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2009

We stayed her for a night as part of our honeymoon in July and it was a pleasant suprise. We expected it to be a lot more basic than what it was, but don't expect a 5*. The food here was great (drink prices are a bit steep), staff were excellent - very helpful and welcoming, the grounds are stunning (to be expected) and the view from your bedroom - wow! Waking up to a watering hole in a safari park in Africa. Perfect! This lodge does exactly what it says on the tin, and a little bit more to be honest. We will be going back here in a few years, and intend to stay at the Voi again. We've recommended it to everyone we know. I also had a back, neck and shoulder massage for around 600 Kenyan Shillings (just over £6) whilst there and, my goodness, it was the best massage I've ever had and a bargain too! Just make sure you take mosquito repellent with you, there is quite a few around at night/dawn! (The pools are lovely too!)
