“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2009

Stayed at Voi Wildlife Lodge on the first night of our 3 night safari from our base hotel in Malindi. We were a bit apprehensive after the mixed reviews on Trip Advisor, but were very pleasantly surprised. Huge, light and airy room with 2 double beds, and a balcony with a wonderful view over the savannah and the waterhole. Mosquito net intact despite other reviews and shower room, if not luxurious, more than adequate. The rooms in Salt Lick Lodge and Kilaguni were not as nice as this. Food was fine and fresh, although the other 2 lodges, I must admit , had better restaurants. All had their own particular good points - Kilaguni view from the room was out of this world and could have gazed in wonder all day but no mosquito net, no ceiling fan and not room to whip a cat in the loo.

But animals every where - the game drives were magical and watching the animals coming down to the waterholes from your balcony or the restaurant - a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Staff in the hotel and lodges just couldn't have been more helpful. Would have liked to spend more time, in retrospect. 3 parks in 4 days doesn't do them justice and is pretty tiring.

Stayed June 2009

“Very good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2009

We really enjoyed this hotel - seeing as you're basically in the middle of no-where this was an oasis. Sure its not exactly the height of 5 star luxury, but hey you're on safari what do you expect. Decent food and facilities and sights to truly remember.

“True Paradise With A Surprise At Manyatta Camp”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2009

We were picked up at 6.30 am from Turtle Bay Beach Club in Watamu and travelled to Tsavo East in a Land Cruiser. Our Guide was Mickey Mouse and our Driver Minnie Mouse...!!! The journey took about 2 hours with stops along the way to view crocodiles.

Once we arrived at Tsavo East we did a 2 hour Game Drive to our Lodge. We found Tsavo a completely different experience from The Masai Mara as the colour of the land was brown and orange colour. You couldn't see to far from the road because there were a lot of bushes not like the open planes of Mara, although we did seen many Elephants, Giraffe's etc along the way to the Lodge.

We arrived at Voi Wildlife Lodge and checked in then drove a short distance to Manyatta Camp within the grounds of Voi Wildlife Lodge.
We were taken to our Tent, and once inside we could believe the size of it. Bathroom, Shower & Toilet area's all separate. Towels, Shampoo, Soap and Shower Gel all provided. We had a beautiful 4 Poster Bed with a Mosquito Net. We then unzipped the rear of our Tent only to find each tent had its own Private Swimming Pool with a Seating Area and Sun Lounger's, again we were over looking Voi River where there were many Elephants and Baboon's at a guess id say about 60. We were totally gob smacked by everything at Manyatta Camp.

The Restaurant was over looking Voi River and we could view the Animal whist enjoy our meals and i must say the Food, our Waiter Peter and the Service we received were first class.
We would recommend this Lodge/Camp to everyone.

Abdul of Tunda Tours arrived at the Camp at 7 am while we ate Breakfast as he wanted to join us on our Safari. So our journey continued to Tsavo West viewing many Animals along the way.
Please see our review for Ngulia Safari Lodge.

“A resonable base for visiting Tsavo East”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2009

We had two nights at this lodge. The lodge wasn't full. The food was OK (no illness) but what was given for dinner often reappeared at lunch the next day; not bad in itself as I hate to see waste!

Nice water hole with good sunrises.

Being so close to the park entrance with so many animals just inside the gate more than makes up for any deficiencies in the lodge.

TIP: The room safes were not "enabled" when we visited but the code 1234 works ;o)

“A wonderful first night stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 April 2009

We stayed at Voi wildlife lodge as part of a three-night safari and this was a gem! Very large rooms with a view to the waterhole. An excellent restaurant and bar area. Woken up by the sounds of amazing birds. A very nice stay - thank you to all the staff.
