Stayed at Voi Wildlife Lodge on the first night of our 3 night safari from our base hotel in Malindi. We were a bit apprehensive after the mixed reviews on Trip Advisor, but were very pleasantly surprised. Huge, light and airy room with 2 double beds, and a balcony with a wonderful view over the savannah and the waterhole. Mosquito net intact despite other reviews and shower room, if not luxurious, more than adequate. The rooms in Salt Lick Lodge and Kilaguni were not as nice as this. Food was fine and fresh, although the other 2 lodges, I must admit , had better restaurants. All had their own particular good points - Kilaguni view from the room was out of this world and could have gazed in wonder all day but no mosquito net, no ceiling fan and not room to whip a cat in the loo.
But animals every where - the game drives were magical and watching the animals coming down to the waterholes from your balcony or the restaurant - a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Staff in the hotel and lodges just couldn't have been more helpful. Would have liked to spend more time, in retrospect. 3 parks in 4 days doesn't do them justice and is pretty tiring.
