We have stayed in the Haadtien Beach Club for 7 days. The resort is very well located and offers a great view and good facilities. We were very happy with the spacious room, decent bathroom, good hygiene, working wifi and the 4 shuttle services to the town that they offer.

However the disappointment comes with the restaurants and bars. I would expect a decent or even high quality kitchen and bar, especially when you look at the very high prices that they ask. This is not the case. The food quality is disappointing and differs every day.

Also the price they ask to rent snorkling equipment or a kayak is quite high, when comparing this to other shops in town.

Altogether a nice place for a relaxing holiday. I would recommend to rent a motorbike for the duration of stay, in order that you are able to eat outside the Haadtien resort.

the good stuff:
great view, very nice pool, the beach is superb.
the PADI diving shop there is great with very helpful staff

the not so good stuff:
1) they water the plants with sewer water, which smells bad and draws LOADS of mosquitos
2) VERY expensive, and the restaurant especially
3) the rooms are far from the beach
2) the restaurant is very expensive

The Haad Tien is a fantastic resort. Private bungalows thirty feet from the water on a beautiful bay.

The grounds are very highly maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. After check out they provide a free shuttle service to the ferry. The staff loaded and unloaded the luggage to the ferry, then stood in line to get the tickets for us.

Mr. Nong, the hotel manager is the hardest working resort manager I have ever see.. He always seemed to be around, early in the morning and late at night. He was always smiling and helpful. He showed me several rooms and allowed me to have my choice. I saw him cleaning the beach of debris, and he accompanied the guests on the shuttle to the ferry, to oversea the transport.

I very highly recommend The Tien Beach Resort. Only one small issue. It's a little isolated, up a steep road in poor condition. I had a scooter and it was not a problem. The resort also provided free shuttle service to town.

We didn't book a room until we'd been on Koh Tao the better part of the week - we weren't sure what to expect with some of the just ok reviews. The bungalow was pretty perfect - quiet, spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and to us, felt really attentive. The bar and restaurant were the most money we spent on the island, and if you want to be out later than 10 then you have to get your own taxi home (Haad Tien's shuttle leaves at 10) but if you want luxury and quiet, this is really pretty perfect.

Room tip: We had a getaway villa that was plenty close to the beach and pool. Seemed the best value.

We were looking for a quiet resort with secluded beach and diving facilities. All our expectations were more than fulfilled when we bought an upgrade from a Haadtien Villa to a Beach Castaway Villa with own Beach access and private lounge style balcony. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet is good, with fresh coffee and excellent egg buffet.
The "Reef Dive" center is more expensive than the average dive center on the island, but very private, max of 4 Pax per dive guide, nice and competent dive crew!
Only criticism would be the partly clogged shower-head.
We did not use the restaurant for dinners, but rather drove to town by a 15 min scooter ride.
