For the price you pay you would think there would be a small fridge in the room - there wasn't one, but was told "if we have one we will see what we can do". The wallpaper was peeling in places and the property looked tired.

I don't understand how I can pay way less for a Holiday Inn Express and get complimentary breakfast, complimentary internet AND a fridge, yet have to pay extra for all that stuff at this "high class hotel"

The fitness center looked like an afterthought and was run down. Parking was a rip-off considering the nightly room rate.

We stayed at the Wynfrey Hotel recently while driving thru Alabama. We loved the location for an overnight stop. Since the Wynfrey is adjacent to a mall there was nice space to walk around with a few different choices for restaurants. There are some details in the hotel that need to be worked on. For this kind of hotel the fitness and pool center need to be revamped. There was paint chipping in the pool and lose concrete tile around the deck. The spa (hot tub) was a little scary...I didn't feel it was safe for my children to use. The hallways are a little dark and dirty. Room was well appointed although furniture shows some decent ware. Got the deal on Hotwire and thought it was worth the money I paid (about $85) but not much more.

My husband and I recently did a quick "get-a-way" weekend in Birmingham to spend time with family. I found the Wynfrey on Expedia for $70.00 per night. It must have been a slow season for them since rates are normally much higher. This hotel is very conveient to many spots in Birmingham and is also located in the Riverchase Galleria shopping mall. The rooms are very nice with very comfy beds and pillows and high end furnishings. It is great place for a romantic get-a-way or girls shopping and spa weekend. You have several shopping and dinning options within walking distance. I would highly recommend this hotel. The only problem my husband had was that the highspeed internet service was out the weekend we were there.

The rooms at The Wynfrey are furnished nicely and most of the furnishings are rather old. In someways this adds to the charm (Beds, Chairs, Paintings) and in other ways very annoying (outdated air con system and bathroom plumbing). The hotel does have a roach problem so if creepy crawlers keep you up I'd look elsewhere. I just kept my bags off the floor and always closed. Other than the roaches the hotel is very clean. The parking fee was annoying being that the hotel is attached to a mall with free parking and the staff isn't all to friendly either.
