The room I got was untidy and surprisingly dirty. In addition you could feel the smell of cigarette smoke in the beddings.
When I asked the reception if I could change the room I was told they were sold out. Than I checked hotels.com and found out that there was still rooms available.

Dear Jim C,

We're sorry that you didn't have a nice experience during your stay with us.
Not all of the rooms from the hotel are managed by the staff of the Manhattan Plaza. Some of them are not our property and, therefore, they don't correspond to the quality level that we practice.
You can feel free to send us an email to comercial@plazabrasilia.com.br telling us the number of the room you stayed, so we can check if the room has to be closed for an inspection.
We thank you for sending us your feedback.

Kind Regards,
Plaza Brasília Hotels

They've just told me that there's no hot water in the bathroom sink because "that's not the way we do it here in Brazil"! Really? And why didn't the manager mention that in his response to "Dilolwa" a couple of weeks ago who mentioned the same problem? The response then was "We're very sorry to hear that you had some issues with the bathroom's water. It's very important for us to develop our service according to our clients reviews. We are going to make sure this won't happen again." Well, please can you make sure it doesn't happen again in my room before I get back this evening?

And no hot water in the shower this morning, either.... They've now replaced the heater unit (they told me that the way they do it in Brazil - there's no central hot water.... Yeah, right ;-)

So the new heater unit is now fixed, but I have to use the shower at low pressure because at higher pressure the heater isn't sufficiently powerful to keep the water hot.

You couldn't make this up - a complete joke that would make Fawlty Towers look like the Ritz.

Room tip: Choose another hotel if you want hot water

Dear St_Albans774,

We are sorry to know about your issues, and we would like to apologize for all the trouble.
Our hotel indeed don't have hot water in the sink and that is quite standard here in Brazil due to our warmer weather. Regarding the problem with the shower, mentioned by you and user Dilolwa, we would like to inform that our hotel is going through an extensive renovation and all those issues are also going to be addressed.

If you have any further comments, please, feel free to address them to our comercial department at: comercial@plazabrasilia.com.br

Kind Regards,

I had only 1 night in brasillia to watch a game on the 30th June. We arrived early and they operated the first come first served in terms of who gets free of charge early check in.

I did initially have a really big issue with this hotel who decided to charge my credit card one month after the date they should have and the full amount inc service despite my confirmation from the website saying completely the opposite. Despite contacting the hotel several times to explain the problems this caused my credit card they just didn't want to know, so I was all set to give this hotel a slating until they surprised me with common sense free of charge check in.

Room was modern and recently updated triple room. Nice large shower and good view of the city. We were close to shopping malls and most importantly the stadium.

Nice to use the sauna but the pool was a bit cold. Didn't get a chance to try breakfast we were catching a cab at 4.30am.

Room tip: High floor near lift

I stayed here for four nights when I was attending a conference. The room was fine but there was no hot water from the taps and the shower was barely warm. This may have been because I was on the top floor. The wifi was excellent and free. My room was big and clean though the decor was tired. Breakfasts were mediocre. Dinner and lunch during the week were good. I can recommend the buffet which ran on busy days. At the weekend the menu was a la carte. I had some very good steaks at reasonable prices. There is a lovely little coffee bar next to the hotel where you can decent coffee. (The hotel stuff is grim.) The hotel is very close to a big mall, the earliest that was built in Brasilia. It has some good bookshop and a large food hall. On the other side of the mall the main street of Brasilia opens up and I had no difficulty walking right up to the Praça dos Três Poderes. You have to watch out for traffic when crossing, however: there are no zebra crossings.
