“Location of this hotel is perfect for exploring moscow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2010

This Hotel is excellent for a base from which to explore the sites of Moscow. Right in the shopping centre, but back off of the main streets. The hotel itself is reasonable, I wouldn't necessarily rate it 5* as it is a little dated, but then, it is Moscow. If you can afford it, the Ritz Carlton is the best place to stay! That said the hotel did its job, clean, tidy, friendly staff, the bar is a little bit expensive so beware! Room was basic but fine, comfy standard Marriott beds, a little bit old fashioned but never the less a perfect base for familiarity in Moscow. You have to pay for the internet in the rooms, however, there is free WiFi in the bar and lobby area and with the laptop next to the window we picked up the signal fine.

“Great location, good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2009

While the main photo makes it look like it's a landmark building that should stand out easily from a distance, this hotel can be hard to find if you're on your own as it's on a side street and a fair walk from the nearest metro station. And no-one nearby could understand our pronunciation of what we were trying to find. But we eventually found it.
Staff are professional and bi-lingual and used to dealing with requests.
Rooms are very clean and professional by western business hotel standards - whic is not surprising as this was very much a business traveller hotel.
Great location to Kremlin (15mins walk), university (around the corner) and CBD shopping (10 mins walk)
It's not the cheapest in the area, but it is central and clean. Because we were getting in after long flights we wanted something we could be sure would be fine.

“Excelent hotel”

Excellent hotel close to Tvserkaya and the old Arbat. Great lobby and rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast is outstanding if included in room rate, otherwise will cost you 23 euros. Area is very quiet and safe. The only minus is really the 15/20 minutes to the closest tube station.

“Red Square moments away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2009

We spent one night in Moscow before flying home. We had a full day to spend walking around the Red Square area. The Courtyard allowed us to check in early, probably since it was Friday and many of the business folks had already checked out.
My wife in Russian and had lived in Moscow for years, and she even remarked on what a great location this hotel had. Quiet, on a nice street, but sandwiched nicely between two major roads leading right to all the tourist attractions. The hotel itself is an upscale Courtyard, and I believe less than 2 years old. It was clean and attractive. The lobby has a couple of tables for smokers, and I believe you can smoke in the bar. You're in Europe, get over it.
A couple of hints: the car service in the hotel wanted $95 to go to the DME airport. We hired one over the phone for $40. (Yeah, my wife's Russian came in pretty handy). I would think if you DIRECTLY asked one of the front desk people to call and book you a taxi, they'd do it.
Also, just down Nikitskaya St. a couple of blocks, which is your closest main road, you'll find a restaurant translated into "Simple Things". It was excellent, and very popular (make a reservation thru the hotel). My wife recognised a couple of familar faces in the crowd, an actor and a politican. However, don't get the wrong idea: it's very reasonable. We had 4 glasses of wine, 1 app, 2 entrees and 2 desserts for about $115. For the quality of the food and service, that's hard to beat in Moscow.
Finally, this hotel is extremely expensive rate-wise. But since Moscow is reportedly the most expensive city in the world, I guess you could say it was a decent value. We used points! It was only 20,000, which is an absolute steal when you consider that a Courtyard in Raleigh, NC or Roswell, GA would have cost me 20,000 or even 25,000.
