Have stayed at this Coutyard a number of times though this is my first review of it. Pleasant, very clean hotel in a quiet location, close to everything. Nice and safe and very easy to get around by foot or indeed, the Metro which is close by. Hotel is expensive at $600 USD a night...but all Western hotels in Moscow carry a similar if not higher room rate. The reason is that there are not enough western hotels in the city and staying in a Russian equivalent is not recommended.

Rooms are spacious with all amenities. Service is nice and poilte and not too obtrusive. Also, English is spoken by most of the staff. Flat Iron bar/restaurant [in hotel]is ok..very Marriottish with OK food. Suggest you take a short walk to a number of eateries close by with prices at less than half of those at the Courtyard. Also free WIFI in the lobby/lounge area is good...although you pay for it in your room.

All in all a good hotel. Depending on rates, I will no doubt be back in a month or two.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel and we were very pleased with the accommodations, service and especially the location. As Marriott members we were able to get the room with points (only 20,000 points/night), so the cost was not an issue. We arrived with an early train from St Petersburg and before 9AM the room was not ready. We waited 45 min in the hotel lobby and they offered free tea and delicious cookies from the stand in the lobby. The room was spacious, quiet, excellent bedding. I especially enjoy the special salts for the bath as a great relaxation after a day of walking.
The location is great. Walking is 10-15 min to Old Arbat, 10 min to Red Square and 20 min to Tretyakov Gallery. There are plenty of good restaurants around. I especially enjoy breakfast at the Coffee House next to conservatory.

We just arrived from Moscow and I can tell that was an excelent choise to stay in this hotel.
The location is perfect. You have Red square at 15 min walk; Tverskaya Ulitsa at 10 min. walk and Old Arbat at about 20 min. walk. Also, you have metro stations close. It's on a quite street, very safely, but you have markets, restaurants and everything you need, just around the corner.
The staff was so kind, the room spacious (not like europe standard rooms), and very clean.
You can have a breakfast buffet in a time schedule very convinient; and about the price, we think is on the budget if you think you're paying for a great centrical 4 star hotel in Moscow. It's not too expensive and you save a lot of money in transportation.

We were traveling throughout the Baltics and Russia and stayed in wonderful European hotels. When we arrived at the Marriott we might as well been in the states as so many of the guests were American. Which of course made it a surprise that the hotel lobby is sufficating with smokers. We had a midnight train to St. Petersburg and had to check out of hotel at noon, it was difficult to stay in the lobby with all the smoke. The customer relations manager was very accomodating and allowed us to rest on the non-smoking floor lobby. I had developed a cold, it was raining and needed an early evening rest prior to the train.

The breakfast was terrific and the staff was so accomodating even with some "ugly" Americans making them crazy with requests. The restaurant in the hotel was quite good and reasonable for the high costs in Moscow. In all the hotels we stayed in, the internet was free. Many guide books complain about the Marriott costs and it seems they have paid attention. You can pop in and use the internet for free for five minutes...enough time to check emails, however, if you are there for business it may get costly.
The location was fabulous and a quiet street a half a block from all the action. We would recommend this hotel.
