We stayed here from 20th until 26th October.
We booked the hotel'c car to pick us up from the airport for the really rather good price of 150DHs and the driver was friendly and awaiting us at the arrivals gate.
On arriving at the hotel itself, the staff were very friendly, professional and polite, check in was trouble free. (We arrived at approximately 8:00PM
On seeing our suite we were very happy, (1104 at front of building, on 11th floor).
There were 5 in our party, (including my mother-in-law)....
We booked a 3 bedroom suite and the size was superb, the three bedrooms were spacious, the TV channels on offer were good too.
The beds were particularly comfortable.
We were amazed to discover the "Maid's" bedroom (an additional bedroom just in case you are bringing your servant!), complete with bathroom. Despite my best efforts, I was unable to persuade my mother-in-law to sleep in this room... ;-)
The kitchen was well equipped and we were more than happy with our accommodation.
The Pool Area
Situated on the 1st floor, There is a small children's Pool, a bigger adult pool and a Jacuzzi. All were clean and the staff present were friendly and polite. Our kids loved the pool, and enjoyed the rather nice iced teas from the pool bar.
One word of advice, the Layia Oak is not the best known hotel among taxi drivers, so best you just tell them "Layia hotel in T-Comm area", this solved our problems.
A wonderful base for a holiday in Dubai. Not close to the Beach, although a taxi to Jumeirah Beach park is only around 34DHS (£6). A taxi to the Mall of Emirates is about 15DHS (£2.80).
There is a carrefour express shop, with a handy shortcut, come out of hotel, cross the road and turn to your right (if you have kept Layia entrance behind you). Then walk along the road a bit, then cut through the gravel road and you will see the Carrefour ahead of you. Its about a 5 minute walk.
Expensive, when we stayed at Kempinski last year we got free internet, but here it costs 35DHs for one hour (you must take it all at once), 100DHS for 24 hours and 450DHS for 7 days.
The good news? There is free wi-fi at the Malls.
This one thing is the only thing I thought the Layia could improve on.
A clean, well appointed and equipped hotel, not centrally located, (but with cheap taxis, this was not a problem for us). Excellent customer service but pricey internet.
Would we stay there again? Undoubtedly the answer is yes.
Would I recommend it to you? Yes, go for it.
