I booked 2 days here to escape the hustle and bustle of Beijing. When we approached the hotel, the exterior lacked the beautiful lush tropical feel we were expecting, albeit the hotel itself was grand. When we arrive to check in we were told that the swimming pool and spa facilities were not included in the price of the room, which you usually expect. It would cost us about £40 per day per person. We did argue that they needed to stipulate that they need to explain this extra cost on their website. Having argued are point and finally got a deducation, we were taken to our room which was actually quite pleasant. We used the Spa, which was immense, pool was a little cold and again the outside lacked any lush, tropical feel. It was all quite sparse. I didn't particularly like the deer caged up either.
When it came to Dinner, everything we seemed to order had sold out, so were getting more and more frustrated. Then we went to a bar and I ordered a cocktail. It appeared that no one had ever ordered a cocktail before and you could see the bar tender, panicking, and experimenting. I got one 15 minutes later and told it was free, obviously knowing it wasnt correct. It was awful.
Noone spoke English at the hotel and we were the only westerners staying there. I don't neccessarily mind it being a Chinese orientated hotel as it is all part of the experience but it was the whole experience that caused us to check out a day early. In addition the atmophere and ambience was rather cold and unfriendly.
