Family of four, teenagers 15 & 17 - we stayed at Nasama for two nights after 2 days on Nguna Island, so it was definitely nice to have a comfortable bed! By the time we stayed at Nasama we had been in Port Vila for a week so were very used to getting around by bus. The villas are very well appointed and the pool is lovely, I agree with the comment that it needs more lounges, we were lucky to have few people staying there so it wasn't a problem, but it will be when it is at capacity. We had the two bedroom appt upstairs nearest the road, I would definitely ask for the one closer to the pool as there has unfortunately been some golden cane palms planted which almost totally obscure the view of the water, which is a shame as it means you have to crowd down one end of the balcony in order to view the ocean and this will only get worse as they get bigger. There are no screens on any of the windows and as they are all louvres - I would suggest you take mozzie repellant - we used ours. One thing we have found strange in all the places we stayed in Vanuatu (3 different self contained appts) is that there is no ventilation or fans in the bathrooms. This is a particular problem in Nasama as the laundry (washer and dryer) are located in the main bathroom which doesn't even have an external wall or window! This made the appt very hot when using the dryer, which you need to do as it is almost impossible to get things dry in the humidity.
The kitchen was huge and well appointed - nice to have a coffee plunger and real coffee supplied. It was easy to walk down the road with a torch at night to local restaurants.
I totally concur with the comment about the dogs - they kept us awake both nights fighting and barking all night - I would take ear plugs if you are in the two bedroom appts - this would certainly make me think twice about staying there again.
It was however a beautiful new appt and the staff were friendly enough, we were there just after the accident, so people were probably a bit more subdued than normal. Vanuatu people are the friendliest people we have ever come acoss and we certainly enjoyed our stay. We felt safe at all times, anywhere in Port Vila even at night. Good to take a torch for walking at night.
