“friendly service and great value for money”

Very friendly service. Narwan, the young manager who explained to us had graduated from a hospitality course, seems to have turned the place around for the better, judging from some of the more dated reviews on this site. He and his staff left a good impression on us for their genuine service and friendliness. Nakul, their guide, was extremely knowledgeable and experienced - naming birds just from their call and spotting stuff from miles away. It is a budget lodge and one review here comparing it to Tiger Tops (closed when we were there) misses the point by a wide margin. Our room was clean, effectively sealed against mosquitos (though not a big problem in Dec) and the water hot. The food was pretty good too.

“Gaida was highlight in south-east asia trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2008

August and Sept. 2008 we made a roundtrip in SE Asia ( India-Nepal-Thailand-Cambodja-Vietnam and China). Stayed 4 days in Gaida. This was a very good choice: excellent staff-very good housing-very good food- excellent variety of excursions: elephant safari-elephant bathing-cano riding-tribe village excursion-jeep safari-elephant breeding farm and jungle walk. Spotted birds, crocodiles, rinos, deer, monkeys, insects, small animals. We recommend Gaida to everyone who is interested in wildlife and nature in Chitwan National Park Nepal.

  • Liked — friendly and excellent (well experienced)staff
  • Disliked — jungle walk could be more adventurer

“Not what we booked at all”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2008

We have just spent three nights at Gaida and although some it was nice and fun it was not was written on the tin!
We booked the tented camp and when we arrived we were told that the tented camp had closed down three years ago!
We stayed in the wildlife huts which were nice. The problem with not being at the tented camp is that we were not in the park and didn't get to the park. The tented camp is 18 k's away from the place we stayed.
When we asked about the park we were told we couldn't get in! So we just did wildlife watching from the camp which is on the edge of the town. Not the wildlife trip we had planned at all. Our nature walk was being walking down the drive to the road in the morning and yes the guide new all birds but it was hardly a jungle experience. Our jeep safari took us through a town and to a polluted lake with locals getting drunk and we walked alone the lake for 15 minutes and then got back into a beat up old truck which was not the roofless landrovers shown on the website. We felt ripped off and miss - led, it was obvious that they are taking bookings for the tented camp and then telling people on arrival and by that point its too late!
We did however visit Tiger tops Jungle lodge and that was more than we could ever expect or have dreamt of! It was fantastic, from the food to the tents, the guides were amazing and yes we have a proper jungle experience and were looked after so well I never wanted to leave. Tiger tops is more expensive than Gaida but it is so worth it!

“This place was great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2007

Stayed her for 2 nights and had the best time. The staff are so friendly & knowledgeable, the rooms are basic but clean & comfortable, the solar hot water was hot and the food was great! (even though the menu was the same each day! The elephant safari was a definate highlight & the baby elephant cute but naughty.
