“Reasonably Swanky”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2010

The hotel did not have a mini bar or coffee maker (Starbucks is located a block away) but they did have the most helpful front desk staff, patient and helpful. The handmade chips at the bar were amazing, and the atmosphere urban chic. In light of all the hotels we could have chosen in DC, this met or exceeded expectations. If you are driving, expect to pay about $50 for overnight parking or get ready to feed the meter M-Sat from 7 am-6:30 pm.

“After the storm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2010

The hotel was very good. We arrived late around 10pm at night and everything was closed so we had to have room service for dinner. Is the first time that I enjoied the hotel food of all my travels! So the position of the hotel is good (center and transportation), food is good, service is good..... What else?

“Almost but not quite...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2010

We arrived a little after midnight to check in. We had booked 6 weeks in advance, and requested a king sized bed. When we went to our room, we found there were two double beds, which took up a lot of space given the small size of the room. Given the hour at night, we elected to just stay put. There was no mini fridge and no coffee maker, but as I had read the reviews, I did not expect them (however I was still disappointed in the lack of amenities). The only thing offered were 2 overpriced bottles of water ($4 each).
When I woke up the next morning, i pushed the sheet back and there was a dried blood stain on the comforter, which belonged neither to me nor my boyfriend. Needless to say, we slept in the other bed the next night. Overall, the hotel was fine, and the rooms were clean enough (comforter aside). We did not spend any significant time there, so if you are just looking for a standard hotel close to the sights, this is a good enough option. We got a great price (around $75 per night) through Priceline, so it was worth it. Otherwise, I would not recommend.

“Bang for the buck -- and great for foodies!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2010

I've stayed at the Liaison twice now, and enjoyed it both times. (The first trip was in the summer, when I booked a deal through the hotel itself. The second trip I booked through priceline, with a steal of a deal at under $100 per night, including taxes and fees. Granted, it was in the middle of a crazy blizzard, so great deals were in abundance that night).

Anyhow, the rooms aren't huge, but they're very clean and modern. The lobby is similarly small but well-appointed. The room service is delish (get anything with BACON) and the bar drinks were also fantastic. I enjoyed a nice St. Germain cocktail, the Orleans I believe.

“Quiet stay in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2010

Booked this hotel without looking at the online reviews and was pleasantly surprised. The price was reasonable for the star-rating of the hotel and the location. My wife and I stayed here over Thanksgiving holiday. Parking was overpriced, but we found a more affordable parking garage down the street. Check-in was quick and we had no problems finding our room. The hotel is very modern looking and has an interesting feel to it -- we liked it. You are able to pick specialized pillows upon check-in (e.g., memory foam, feather, etc.) The delivery of the pillows took about 45 minutes which was kind of annoying, but that was the only slip-up we experienced. The bed is very comfortable.

The hotel is within walking distance of a couple bars and restaurants. It is also very close to Union Station, which is convenient if you are taking a train. I would recommend this hotel to people looking for a convenient and reasonably priced boutique hotel in downtown D.C.
