“Quiet stay in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2010

Booked this hotel without looking at the online reviews and was pleasantly surprised. The price was reasonable for the star-rating of the hotel and the location. My wife and I stayed here over Thanksgiving holiday. Parking was overpriced, but we found a more affordable parking garage down the street. Check-in was quick and we had no problems finding our room. The hotel is very modern looking and has an interesting feel to it -- we liked it. You are able to pick specialized pillows upon check-in (e.g., memory foam, feather, etc.) The delivery of the pillows took about 45 minutes which was kind of annoying, but that was the only slip-up we experienced. The bed is very comfortable.

The hotel is within walking distance of a couple bars and restaurants. It is also very close to Union Station, which is convenient if you are taking a train. I would recommend this hotel to people looking for a convenient and reasonably priced boutique hotel in downtown D.C.

“Great Stay!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2010

We visited D.C. the weekend of January 30th. We arrived early due to an incoming snow storm, and we were pleasantly surprised our room was ready. The room though small was furnished very nice, very clean, and the bath room shower/conditioner pumps in the shower stall was a nice touch. The bed was one of the best beds I have slept on in a hotel. The staff were very courteous. We did have dinner at the Art & Sould restaurant and thought it was very good. We will definitely come back and stay in this hotel. Hopefully in the summer, and we can take advantage of their rooftop pool. Highly recommend to anyone visiting D.C.

“We loved this hotel!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2010

Came for a business conference and stayed over for to enjoy D.C. We found this hotel to be trendy, eclectic and fun! The guest rooms weren't huge but the beds were great! The on-site restaurant ART & SOUL was very tasty! Great location, helpful staff--we highly recommend!

“Nice Hotel....TERRIBLE Bartenders”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2010

So my girlfriend and I stayed here for a night and I can say that the hotel itself was nice and had a good ambience. The service was awful. We walked up to the bartender and asked for a cup of coffee and she looked at us like we were crazy. "I can do it but I'll have to go to the kitchen" is exactly what she said. We finally had to walk over to restaurant hostess and she was able to grab some coffee for us. The same bartender was in a bad mood all night and very slow at taking orders. I really hope they take care of this because it definitely impacted our experience and we won't ever be back. AMATEURS behind the bar.

“Great Location - A little noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2010

My husband and I stayed here for four days in Aug '09. We had a wonder time. The location was great - very close to Union Station and the Capital. We are fairly young and walked almost everywhere (we only used our car one day to travel to the National Arboretum and Mount Vernon). There is a Metro station at Union Station which can bring you to most of the hot spots.

The hotel was very nice (trendy style) and our room was nice and very clean. My husband thought the room was a little small for a "four star" hotel, but I was pleased with the room. The hotel has about four different types pillows you can request from the front desk, so I got to have a memory foam pillow for a week. The only problem I found with the room was the firehouse next door meant there where many sirens during the night (not loud enough to wake you, but could make it hard to fall a sleep). I felt safe walking around the neighborhood with my husband (though I wouldn't have walked alone). I was a little worried about the liquor store on the corner, but we had no problems besides people asking us for money around Union Station.

The hotel charges for internet and there is no coffee or fridge in the room. The rate to park in the hotel was outrageous - $40/day (they only allow valet parking) but we parked in a garage on E (just around the corner) for about $20/day.

The pool area was beautiful and there was even a lifeguard duty, but on Sunday when we checked in the there was a weekly pool party going on. It was free to guests, but it lead to the lobby and front of the hotel being filled with very drunk, half dressed hipsters. The rest of the week the hotel was much calmer with business people and families. The restaurant in the hotel was the best we ate at in DC. I would definitely recommend the hotel and stay again.
