“Great Location - A little noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2010

My husband and I stayed here for four days in Aug '09. We had a wonder time. The location was great - very close to Union Station and the Capital. We are fairly young and walked almost everywhere (we only used our car one day to travel to the National Arboretum and Mount Vernon). There is a Metro station at Union Station which can bring you to most of the hot spots.

The hotel was very nice (trendy style) and our room was nice and very clean. My husband thought the room was a little small for a "four star" hotel, but I was pleased with the room. The hotel has about four different types pillows you can request from the front desk, so I got to have a memory foam pillow for a week. The only problem I found with the room was the firehouse next door meant there where many sirens during the night (not loud enough to wake you, but could make it hard to fall a sleep). I felt safe walking around the neighborhood with my husband (though I wouldn't have walked alone). I was a little worried about the liquor store on the corner, but we had no problems besides people asking us for money around Union Station.

The hotel charges for internet and there is no coffee or fridge in the room. The rate to park in the hotel was outrageous - $40/day (they only allow valet parking) but we parked in a garage on E (just around the corner) for about $20/day.

The pool area was beautiful and there was even a lifeguard duty, but on Sunday when we checked in the there was a weekly pool party going on. It was free to guests, but it lead to the lobby and front of the hotel being filled with very drunk, half dressed hipsters. The rest of the week the hotel was much calmer with business people and families. The restaurant in the hotel was the best we ate at in DC. I would definitely recommend the hotel and stay again.

“Incredible Experience Here!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2010

I stayed here in December during a trip to DC for work, going off a colleague's advice. Glad I took him up on it- the place was very cool; very nicely done. Great location, excelent amenities (I only wish it was summer so i could have gone out to the pool, which looks amazing), amazing staff, and a fastastic overall vibe to the place. I would definitely come back here for all of my DC travel, and would highly recommend this hotel for the positive experince i had here.

“Nice furnishings, no coffee maker or fridge”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2010

We've stayed in Affinia hotels in New York and now D.C. We loved the New York location. The great thing about this location is that you can walk to Union Station and also to the museums, Botanical Gardens, etc.

In the room, we got a King Superior room, nice b/c a little bigger and on the corner of the building. The furnishings are nice and we especially loved that the shampoo/conditioner/body wash are big bottles mounted in the bathroom. There are plenty of places for you to stash your belongings while you are here.

The one complaint we have is that there is no mini-fridge or in-room coffee maker. We could understand the lack of mini-fridge as not all hotels have them. However, almost every hotel room known to man has an in-room coffee maker and my husband likes his morning cup of coffee in the room when we are getting ready and packing.

In addition, the room service breakfast is astronomically expensive. $22 for two eggs, hashbrowns, some bacon and coffee or oj. A bit over the top. This hotel is attached to an award-winning restaurant and unfortunately, that's the restaurant that is serving the hotel for room service, so you are getting even more exorbitant prices than normal for room service. Unfortunate since in-room dining is a luxury we love when we are at a hotel.

However, it was a comfortable stay. Watch out if you want to rent a movie - it costs $16.99!!!!

“Amazing hotel with a fantastic location and a pillow menu!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2010

This hotel was fantastic. I travel a lot for business and it had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. They also had a pillow menu where you could choose from 6 different pillows to use including one you could plug into your mp3 player. It has an ideal location if you want to explore the monuments and the museums along the national mall. Everything is in walking distance. I also managed to get a great price by naming a price on pricline. I highly recommend this hotel if you are headed to the DC area.

“We found a winner!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2010

After looking at various reviews, we weren't sure if this was the place for our 4 day trip to DC. It was perfect! We took the Metro into Union Station and walked to the hotel....a bit of a hike but worth it. There is plenty to do in the area too. The greeting we received was excellent, the Priceline price great, the amenities wonderful and we loved our dinner at the Art and Soul restaurant. The room was clean, modern and quiet. Nice touches, comfy pillows, starched sheets and we felt very special there. It would be nice to have coffee/tea in the room though. There is a Starbucks down the street though. We didn't bring a computer but they had a business office with free internet so no problems keeping up with the office. Highly recommend.
