Joyce & Mervyn's is a great place to stay, they are so friendly and its just like being at home, the food is first class and we cannot fault it in any way.
Location is excellent with so much scenery and unspoilt countryside, we enjoy the walking especially the coastal walks.

Inshowen is a long way from anywhere but well worth the trip. After visiting several cities it was a real treat to stay in the most rural area of Ireland. Everything in the two prior reviews by Szebal and Messygirl are completely accurate. This is a beautiful location a stones throw from the rugged Irish coastline, sheep and horses in the local stone fenced fields and views that go on forever. All the local one lane roads are paved, with almost no traffic, so long walks are very enjoyable. Be prepared to wave at everyone who does drive by. Trean House is a great B&B, very comfortable clean and quiet. Joyce and Mervyn are wonderful hosts. They obviously have busy days taking care of the farm and their guests but you would never know it. I never saw them in a hurry, they always seemed to be relaxed and ready for a chat. Joyce even puts up the jams that she serves with breakfast from the berries grown in her garden. Go to Inishowen and stay at Trean house!

Trean House was such a lovely surprise for us. It is a working farm, but the owners take the time out of their day to talk and help you have a great vacation. We had arrived late one night and Mervyn went out of his way to call several restaurants in town to see if they were still serving. And our room was enormous with the best electric shower. Everything was so clean and VERY comfy beds. Meryn spent most of his morning with us on the outside terrace just talking about this and that. He grew up in this house, so he knows most everything about the area. And WOW what an area. So beautiful, with lots of cows and sheep behind the stone fences. Trean House comes highly recommended from me.

We stayed at Trean House for 3 nights - it is fantastically situated in the middle of green countryside, 5 mins walk to a little pebble beach. The owners, Joyce & Mervyn, are very pleasant, they let us feed their 2 orphaned lambs which were so sweet! They also have 2 fab dogs which are very friendly (not overbearing so!). We often went for a walk to the beach and their border collie always came with us, to bark at the splashes we made skimming stones. A really lovely memory!
The rooms are really beautifully decorated and it is a very peaceful location. The lounge & dining room are a little more old-fashioned in style, but you can look out over a gorgeous garden at breakfast. There was lots of information in the form of pamphlets & books to read, but it is more the sort of b&b where you are really left to your own devices after breakfast.
All in all it is really good value for a very beautiful spot. I'd especially recommend it for children given the farm/beach aspect, but also for travellers looking for a really peaceful spot.
