As an experienced traveller i can honestly say that this establishment plumbed new depths of misery. The disgusting rooms - smelly, damp, cockroach and cat infested - were matched only by the "don't give a damn attitude" of the staff. We arrived after dark, but our room was across an unlit and uneven courtyard, with open swimming pool lurking in the blackness - the receptionist" waved her arms and indicated the general direction, then left us to it. When we finally stumbled into our room, we were preceded by a mangy cat (one of many); at least the chase to evict the cat gave us some entertainment, as the TV didn't work. Unfortunately, neither did the air conditioning. The large cockroaches proved harder to evict, but at least they didn't bite - unlike something in the bed in the night. The evening meal followed the same low standard. The restaurant was dirty, full of uncleared tables and more cats. We struggled to get a drink, but when the casual waitress finally brought something, it turned out to be two cups of undiluted orange squash. The food was abysmal.
Having survived to night, accompanied by the scuttling of the cockroaches and the nibbling of the other night creatures, we emerged weary but full of anticipation as we had a 10.30 appointment with the Thomas Cook Rep. He was eminently slappable! He was totally useless, his only suggestion was that we either paid 700 or 1100 euros to upgrade to 4.5 star or 5 star hotels, or go online and book a flight home.
We couldn't bear to stay, nor to pay any more cash to Thomas Cook, so we moved out to the Maspalomas Princess, under our own steam, and had a great holiday thereafter.
Be warned; this is by no means a 4 star hotel, indeed I wouldn't give it a single star!
