“Gracious Elegance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2010

I stayed there some years ago when the parents of present man was in charge. Roderick has done great work since then. Fresh unpretensious food ...like you would have at home was great and the one table conversations are what you need on holiday.
He has kept the style and upped the comfort to modern standards! He's a very nice guy to talk to as well!
I recommend this for anyone on road between Galway and Sligolooking for a stopover.

“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

We just spent a great evening at the Temple House. I was traveling with my husband and two girls (11 and 13). The Temple House was our 'treat' during a one-week tour through various B&B's throughout Ireland. We loved it! You arrive via a long driveway--on all sides were grazing sheep, and because we were there during prime lambing season--dozens of baby lambs. That alone had my girls thrilled about the visit.

Our room was lovely, very spacious, with beautiful furniture, and fascinating antiques--our favorite was the Temple House medicine chest, dating back several hundred years. The girls had a room right off of ours, which was very convenient. The house itself is lovely, with a very comfortable sitting room and a beautiful dining room. We spent the afternoon walking around the grounds. This included a walk up to the lambing shed, where the girls were able to feed a lamb, and could see lambs just hours old playing. We also explored the ruins of a Knights of Templar castle that was right on the grounds--it was fascinating to be able to walk right among the ruins.

We had dinner in the Temple House dining room. The food was wonderful, and we were able to share the experience with a charming French family who was also staying at the property. The cook made a simpler version of our meal for the girls, and they had their own dining table in the kitchen for a more informal meal. The cook was able to accomodate my daughter's allergies without a problem. Breakfast was also terrific.

The owner, Roderick, was charming and very helpful. All of the other staff, especially the women at the lambing shed were very friendly and gracious, quick to offer information, or just answer general questions. I would highly recommend it.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

The lambs are growing quickly and have taken to racing round in swarms of skipping woolly things!

Hope to see you another time.

“Unbelievable! It was by far our favorite place to stay during our trip to Ireland.”

My daughter, sister and I stayed for two nights. We agreed that we would have been happy to stay a week. Our "suite" looking over the garden and a view of the ruins and lake was like something out of a magazine-something we'd never thought we'd experience in person. The Percivals were so very welcoming to visitors not used to such luxury. We were a little afraid we'd feel out of place- but we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The dinner we were served our first nite was delicious( wish we'd had time to experience it a second nite). Breakfast was great and Roderick was entertaining and full of advice for the day's activities. We appreciated being made to feel at home in such a gracious setting and sharing the wellies and jackets in the entryway so we could walk through the pasture visiting the sheep and looking over the ruins. Writing this review makes me want to hop on the next flight and head back for another stay. I've told friends and family to be sure to include Temple House in any visit to Ireland as a must see and stay. Definitely anyone with a love of history and romance will be more than pleased.

“Delightful charming country house”

We spent a most enjoyable weekend here. We were staying with a group of friends (10 or so).

The owners are extremely friendly and have a most fantastic skill of being welcoming yet not overbearing.

The house and grounds are next to none. Vistas and history abound.

The one thing I would say to people looking to stay here (and is something that the owners say themselves) this is not a hotel and do not stay here if you want satellite pumped into your room and pristine environs.

The highlights - relaxing in the morning room on the couch in front of the open fire chatting to guests while an Irish Wolfhound lies at your feet. Top Class Dinner in the dinning room being watched by the portraits of previous generations. Walking through the extensive grounds. In short ... every aspect of our stay.
