“Very comfortable hotel, excellent value”

We recently stayed at the Woodland to attend an open air concert at Killruddery House which is right opposite the hotel. Having arrived very early to check in as our flight from the UK landed at 8am, we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who actually rang through to house keeping to ask if our room was ready, it wasn't ,but we had a coffee and within about half an hour we were given our keys, not like some hotels that wont let you check in until the oligatory 2 or 3-00pm. I saw another guest who had obviously arrived early due to flights also given his keys after about half an hour, much to his surprise I think as he commented on the good sevice. Our package included breakfast and dinner, the breakfast is self service inc. good choice of cereal, hot porridge, meats, fruit, bacon , eggs, toast, croissants etc. You can also serve yourself with pots of tea & coffee so you dont have to wait for a waitress to ask you if you want more! Dinner was a three course menu choice, really enjoyable. They also have an excellent bar menu available from 12-00pm through to 9pm, again really good choice and good value. Breakfast was served till 11am weekends 10-30 am in the week so a little time for a lie in !! Very friendly and helpful staff. We realy enjoyed our stay, the location was ideal for us, but there's a bus stop for local buses just around the corner from the hotel through to Bray and from there you can catch the Dart into Dublin about a 50min journey altogether and thats allowing time to wait for the bus and train. Would recommend.

“QUIET LOCATION”

Stayed one night, for a concert in Kilruddery which is just across the road. Just a few small pointers (but i would definately stay again). When we were ready for bed, we rang the night porter for an extra pillow, to be told he didnt have any?. Also ensure that you are away from the function room, there was party on and we were almost directly over the disco, but it didnt last long. The reception staff were excellant on check in and out, very pleasant and chatty. One other thing we noticed at breakfast which was a superb breakfast, (this is really for the management), obviously the hotel was busy the night after the concert but if you were on a room only basis there would be nothing to stop you eating in the restaurant, as noboby asked us what our room no was so how could they know what kind of rate we were on. Maybe they dont do room rate only. but all in all would highly recomment it.

“Good value”

We stayed here for two nights midweek 2 adults and 3 children in a family room. We paid 150 for the two night stay which included breakfast I thought this was good value. The staff are efficient and welcoming. Breakfast is a buffet of which there is plenty the food was very warm and a great choice was offered. We ate in the bar one evening service was excellent food was lovely and adults received a free glass of wine with their meal.
Our room was spacious there was a tv and dvd player. We did find the room to be unbearably hot at night time despite no radiator been on, there was no top sheet on the bed so the choice was a heavy quilt or nothing we couldnt leave the window open as we were on the ground floor. I noticed all the radiators were going full blast in the communal areas so maybe this caused the problem. In my opinion a lot of areas in the hotel really need redecoration. The windows in our bedroom would not close properly nets and heavy curtains need replacing among other things. The hotel is well situated for visiting the wicklow area, Wicklow goal well worth a visit.

“would not recommend!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

A very under staffed hotel.
Room and general areas of hotel were not properly cleaned eg. dust everywhere, cob web on bedroom window that had been there quite some time.
Heat in room was horrendous although no heat on.
Bathroom had been wiped but not washed.
Toilets off lobby were dirty.
Restaurant closed.
Breakfast cold every morning.

Definately will not be going back. Would only give 1 star not 3.
