"I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself." Maya Angelou's words were written about such a place as Stanley House. From the moment you turn off the road into the parking area, you can see why--it's a beautiful place. Deer are roaming in the lower paddocks, wild flowers hang from the surrounding walls and Schull Harbor is seen in the distance. You enter through the front door greeted by peace, serenity and a friendly face. From the moment she meets you, Nancy turns you from a visitor into family. The accommodations are warm and cozy and clean enough to pass the toughest inspection. Breakfast is served graciously and if your daughter asks for pancakes, even though it's not on the hearty menu, Nancy smiles and obliges happily. But the richness of the place isn't just found in the building or it's interiors...it's in the spirit of Ireland that permeates from the owner/proprietor. Spend an afternoon chatting with her in the kitchen or in the solar room over tea and you will understand why so many have come to this house. It just feels like home. No matter what type of lodging you choose when traveling, Stanley House sets the standard by which very few can compare. Anywhere.
