“Lovely B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

We enjoyed our stay in the small village of Schull (recommended by Trip Advisor Forum). Stanley House is a beautiful house in a pictureque setting. The room & bathroom were very clean & comfortable. Nancy & Tom are very helpful & breakfast a delight. Stanley House is a little way out of town but we walked without any problems into town for dinner. The location is extremely quiet, we enjoyed our 2 night stay & wished we had been able to stay a little longer.

“Relax and Enjoy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2009

Beautiful location with stunning views. The room was good size and spotless. We were greeted on arrival by Nancy with tea/coffee and home made cake. The breakfast is freshly made to order and all options are catered for.

The location is a great base for travelling around the many scenic locations.

Friendly, warm and attentive ambience without being intrusive. Excellent.

“In Schull, home is where the Stanley House is.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2009

"I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself." Maya Angelou's words were written about such a place as Stanley House. From the moment you turn off the road into the parking area, you can see why--it's a beautiful place. Deer are roaming in the lower paddocks, wild flowers hang from the surrounding walls and Schull Harbor is seen in the distance. You enter through the front door greeted by peace, serenity and a friendly face. From the moment she meets you, Nancy turns you from a visitor into family. The accommodations are warm and cozy and clean enough to pass the toughest inspection. Breakfast is served graciously and if your daughter asks for pancakes, even though it's not on the hearty menu, Nancy smiles and obliges happily. But the richness of the place isn't just found in the building or it's interiors...it's in the spirit of Ireland that permeates from the owner/proprietor. Spend an afternoon chatting with her in the kitchen or in the solar room over tea and you will understand why so many have come to this house. It just feels like home. No matter what type of lodging you choose when traveling, Stanley House sets the standard by which very few can compare. Anywhere.

“Highly rated B & B lives up to its reputation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2009

Using the Trip Advisor reviews, I located this B and B in Schull, a picturesque village on the Mizen Head Peninsula. Nancy Brosnan, the proprietor, greeted us on arrival with tea and scones, and shared her beautiful front yard vista of Schull Harbor. The accommodations are first rate, and very tastefully done. The house is surrounded by flowers, not the least of which are the lovely calla lilies. Nancy is ready with good suggestions for dining and touring the rest of Mizen Head, Sheep's Head, Bantry, and Skibbereen. Her guests are generally repeat travelers, and it is easy to see why they return. You won't regret a few days at Stanley House.

“My first visit to West Cork and Stanley House - definitely not the last!”

Our trip to Schull was combined business and pleasure. Nancy Brosnan’s fine B&B establishment was recommended by the language school in Schull as somewhere 'really lovely' to stay. They were not wrong.

On the strength of the recommendation we left some free time for relaxing and exploring the surroundings. We were delighted with the advice offered by Nancy and her husband Tom who obviously love their native area. This was icing on the cake of their wonderful welcome and amazingly well-cared for house and garden with deer grazing across the fence and the unbelievable views over the bay. To add to the experience, all this can be seen from her delightful sunroom on inclement days.

You would say that Nancy never stops - keeping her house gleaming – bedrooms (so thoughtfully equipped) and showers pristine - her garden beautiful - on top of acquiring locally sourced food for her truly wonderful freshly cooked breakfasts (with a large menu catering for all tastes) – easily comparable with good breakfasts I have had anywhere in the world. Nothing is too much trouble for Nancy - even our marginally late arrival at her breakfast table one day caused her to smile and run for food.

She shrugs off her hard work and kindness but these things do not happen by accident. We unreservedly recommend this magical place.
