“Heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2010

this guesthouse in Connemara is one of the best places we've ever stayed and we've been to many of the finest hotels in Europe. The setting is gorgeous, the service is perfect, the food is delicious. You can tell by looking at the website that the rooms are lovely and it is spotlessly cleaned. I am not overstating this! We overlooked Clifden Bay and the ocean and watched little lambs playing in a field right next to us. Please visit when you're on the west coast of Ireland if you want to get away to a peaceful, beautiful place.

A beautiful location and a beautiful house - uniquely styled rooms, amazing views from the breakfast room and a cozy old Irish sitting room with a turf fire. This is Ireland's B&B hospitality at its best.

We loved the relaxed atmosphere here, the friendliness of our hosts and the location about a mile out the Sky Road of Clifden was a perfect getaway bolt hole.

Our room had its own doorway onto a small patio outside with beautiful views. We'd recommend these lower ground floor rooms - and each seem to have it's own unique features from what we could glimpse in other rooms as we checked out.

“great location and view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2009

Loved the house view and room. A little far from town but the setting more than makes up for it. Showers do need to be hit with a little more mildew cleaner but that seems to be the case in most places in Ireland. The owners were very kind and caring and you could sip a glass of wine while looking at the ocean right outside you're room. Breakfast room the best we had because of view of ocean. A little on the pricey side but you get what you pay for.

“Wonderful hospitality, fantastic location and great rooms!”

We have stayed at Dolphin Beach House twice this year, in the Crooked Room and more recently in Bay View. It's definately worth going for one of the rooms with a view of the cove; we really enjoyed sitting in our seating area and taking in the view! The rooms are characterful, large (the ones we have stayed in were, anyway!) and really comfortable, furnished with old and antique furniture and with the occasional artistic touch. The Foyle family were welcoming, friendly and helpful without being overpowering, and the breakfast was excellent - presumably the complaints by previous visitors have been attended to! We also had a couple of evening meals, which were good straightforward home cooking, and good value.
All in all a special place to stay, which would take some beating in the area!
