Thanks to all the Trip Advisor reviewers who persuaded us to stay at the Pax Guesthouse. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and immediately provided with tea and a treat in the comfortable sitting area, where we could enjoy the fabulous view. And yes, they probably do--as advertised--have the best view over Dingle Harbour to the hills beyond. To our surprise, because we had not booked one of their most expensive rooms, our room on the lower level also had a fabulous view and opened onto the lower patio. It was large enough for a sitting area quite separate from the sleeping area. The bathroom was narrow, but had all the essential ingredients. The spacious breakfast room on the main level shared the outstanding view, as did the patio adjoining the lounge area. Our host, John, and his staff provided fantastic service. John, in particular, couldn't do enough to help. We're only concerned that he might burn himself out completely as he works incredibly hard to ensure everyone's happiness. Our only surprise was the decor, which I would describe as eclectic/contemporary. I expect that the website had not been redesigned since John took over from the previous owners, as the photos on the website with traditional furnishings and antiques are not of the current incarnation. This was really not a problem for us as the current decor and the extensive contemporary art collection were great.
