“You must go to the Pax Guest House in Dingle - it is excellent - Thank you John.”

When we arrived at Pax, we were greated by John the owner and his faithful companion Rio, his friendly black dog, who wanted us to play with her ball. John made us feel very welcome from the outset and gave us a full description of the house and the grounds. He described the view of Dingle Bay and the Ring of Kerry and where Fungie, the dolphin might be seen. John then gave us a detailed hand drawn map of Dingle town with all the restaurants, pubs and car parking marked and numbered and described each in detail. Our room was excellent with a view over Dingle Bay. Exactly as John had described, Fungie the dolphin appeared the following morning rounding off a beautiful stay. Breakfast was something to be believed. In a room overlooking the bay, we were served excellent food. I was sorry to have to leave but I promised John that we would return. I would highly recommend this accommodation.

“Rave reviews for this excellent guesthouse”

Thanks to all the Trip Advisor reviewers who persuaded us to stay at the Pax Guesthouse. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and immediately provided with tea and a treat in the comfortable sitting area, where we could enjoy the fabulous view. And yes, they probably do--as advertised--have the best view over Dingle Harbour to the hills beyond. To our surprise, because we had not booked one of their most expensive rooms, our room on the lower level also had a fabulous view and opened onto the lower patio. It was large enough for a sitting area quite separate from the sleeping area. The bathroom was narrow, but had all the essential ingredients. The spacious breakfast room on the main level shared the outstanding view, as did the patio adjoining the lounge area. Our host, John, and his staff provided fantastic service. John, in particular, couldn't do enough to help. We're only concerned that he might burn himself out completely as he works incredibly hard to ensure everyone's happiness. Our only surprise was the decor, which I would describe as eclectic/contemporary. I expect that the website had not been redesigned since John took over from the previous owners, as the photos on the website with traditional furnishings and antiques are not of the current incarnation. This was really not a problem for us as the current decor and the extensive contemporary art collection were great.

“Just what the doctor ordered”

What can I say, this place has it all, amazing views, relaxed reading rooms, 180 degree sea views, a host who cannot do enough to ensure a pleasant stay. We stayed here last Monday night and the place was full all 12 rooms, John the owner was just the best, he even dropped us to the Restaurant for dinner, cheers John.

“Our Favorite B&B”

We stayed at Pax House for 2 nights. Immediately upon our arrival, we were greeted by Rio with a ball ready to play catch. John was very nice and made us tea and cookies as soon as we showed up so that we could enjoy the view. We played with Rio and relaxed on the terrace for about an hour before heading into town. The walk into town is about 10 minutes and not too bad during the day. On both nights, we walked back to the B&B at night but wouldn't recommend doing so if you had one too many Guiness or if the weather is bad. The street is really dark and people were passing us pretty quickly - it felt a bit dangerous while we were walking and probably should have taken a taxi.

The breakfast was delicious and the sunroom was a great place to eat in the morning. John provided turn down service at night with a piece of chocolate. The service was great! John gave us recommendations for dinner and even helped make a reservation. He also gave us spot on directions to the Shannon Ferry, which helped us out tremendously.

We can't say enough good things about this place. It was our favorite - hands down. The property is just so beautiful - the pictures don't do it justice.

“Simply Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2010

My fiance and I stayed in Ireland for 11 days and John and the Pax house were by far the most friendly, comfortable and accommodating place we stayed. The amazing views and genuine Irish hospitality made our vacation truly wonderful. If you stay at Pax you must play catch with Rio!
