I thought we'd really love this place based on the pics, but something was missing that I can't quite put my finger on. First, the driveway is behind a bottling company and honestly looks a little scary coming in. Parking was a nightmare-I live in nyc and also drive on back roads in new england, but this was impossible! There were too many cars in the tiny lot, and you can also only approach it from one direction. Sayed was very friendly checking us in and helpful throughout the stay- he gave us champagne since it was our honeymoon. In the welcome book, they warn you about scorpions which kind of put a damper on things! The room (la perle) was big but not very warm or well put together. Probably the most annoying part of the stay was that there was a family of 5 renting the apartment they have on site, and used the pool the entire time as if they owned it. The pool is beautiful and I wish I had gotten to try the jacuzzi, but it was occupied by a screaming 3 year old most of the time.

We didn't have dinner there, but the breakfast was pretty good. It wasn't horrible, but we wouldn't return.

Dear TripAdvisor, we would like to reply to the comments of the 18th of July (BrooklynGirl79) regarding our property. We were very sorry about the BrooklynGirl's feeling during her stay at Villa Cicolina. Our motto is "the guest is king" and we do our best to let him/her feel like at home and to solve the little problems one can have sharing a place with other unknown people. It is right that the not asphalted road which leads to our Villa is not in best conditions, but it isn't our property, we can just take care (and we do it) of the last 30 meters which are on our ground; when the parking place is full for whatever reason we always offer the possibility to park in the staff parking place. If we know that our guests has a problem we try to solve it. The room the BrooklynGirl is talking about is a Suite, one of the best furnished of the entire Villa, with furniture dating back to 1850-1920 in the little entrance and dating back to 1600-1700 and to the first half of the 1800 in the bedroom. There is a bronze statue signed by the famous sculptor Dimitri H. Chiparus, whose works are collected by Elton John and Madonna (this doesn't mean that one must like it, of course, but to say that it is not well put together is not the truth. Sure it is not the way our modern flat are furnished, because Villa Cicolina is different very different from our modern flats and houses). We are very sorry about the fact that the BrooklynGirl could not join the swimming pool as she wished. We think that all our guests have the same right to join our beautiful swimming pool and the other common spaces and we can help in this matter as well. But to help someone you must know that there is a problem. She didn't tell us a word about her discomfort and her troubles with the other guests. And we are very sorry for it, because it can only mean that she didn't trust us.

Two thumbs up! This property offers all the romantic feel you dream of while visiting Tuscany. The hotel is as darling as it could be and the grounds with infinity pool overlooking the awesome views, will always stay in my memory.
Staff is great, gorgeous gardens, free internet, very reasonable prices, great food and wines(even some from their own vineyards which were delicious) close to the town of Montepulciano(maybe 2 miles), and realxing as you'd evr expect.

We celebrated our wedding at Villa Cicolina in October 2007. It was an intimate affair of only 16 guests. Every single person agreed that it was, by far, the most beautiful and special place they had ever been to. The staff is absolutely delightful, especially Vincenzo in the restaurant. The grounds with fragrant olive groves and rose gardens are magnificent, the food and service were great. The rooms are picturesque and very large! My husband and I think of our 3 days at Villa Cicolina and sigh every time. We can not wait to be there again very soon!

We spent 2 nights at the Villa Cicolina in October 2007. The room and grounds were beautiful -- rustic, but very comfortable, warm and manicured. The gardens, pool area and chapel were unexpectedly large and attractive. The location is great, a 3-minute drive from Montepulciano, which was one of the most charming towns we visited. The only downside to the location is that you can hear cars on the main road that runs by the property, although you cannot see the road and the views from the gardens are great.

The service was generally good, although communication was a bit of an issue. The owner took us to his olive oil press, which was extremely cool and a beautiful drive.

The only downside in our opinion was that the food was shockingly bad. We had dinner there one night and found the main course and dessert to be inedible. We are not picky eaters, but this was lamentable food by any standard, and especially in Italy. Dinner is prix fixe and you have no choice as to what you order. Breakfast was also grim -- a large array of dubious meats, wilted pastries and juices from concentrate.

Dear Guest,

We thank you very much for your kind comment which helped us a lot to get better and to give better services to our customers, from 2011 we have a very expert young chef called Mimmo and he is taking care of the dinner, and he prepars lots of pasteries and cakes for breakfast as well. We realized that the previous cook ( house wife cook ) is not professional enough to satisfy the needs of our guests who appreciate the tuscan cuisine and now we have a very good chef with whose skill s we increased the cookery courses in our property to be around 3/4 times a week.
He works more with the cookery courses but it is his fault because everybody likes his tuscan food and wants to learn more about his secret receipes.

Best regards from Montepulciano

My wife and I just got back from a honeymoon in Italy and we both agreed that Villa Cicolina was the best place we stayed on our trip.

The rooms are beautifully decorated and have phenomenal views. The infinity pool is great as well.

The food at the villa is superb (definitely do dinner there). The grounds are laden with fig, olive, lemon and pomegranite trees, rosemary bushes, and of course, grape vines. Much of the ingredients in their dishes use food from their own gardens.

I must say that above all, the staff really is what made the place so great. Alessandro was extremely helpful and very friendly. When we arrived at the villa there was a bottle of prosecco chilling. Really a nice touch after a long flight and car ride.
