“"Fantastic Hotel"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2008

Firstly This Hotel is a Good Four Hotel and The Location is Ideal for a Skiing Holiday, The Ski Equipment Lockers Are Accross the Road and are Included In The Hotel Price, There Are Several Ski Hire shops in resortand the cost is about 70 euros for boots poles and skis. We had a lot of Snow during the week we was there which was great, Ski School is recomended and cost 100 euros for a week half days. The Ski Passes are avalible and are cheaper from the reps, I think the cost was 192 Euros but iam not sure as our group leader brourghtpasses altogether but there defenitly cheaper from your travel rep.

The Gondoler staition is accross the road and there are bars and food places nearby and up on the slops the cost of a luch time main meal and drinks is between 50 - 60 euros

Now back to the hotel, Food Fantastic all week plenty of choice the egg man is a bit misserable in the mornings but apart from that every one is really nice.

The Spa at the hotel is really nice and eases any pains from skiing...

The only down side to the weeks Skiing was the transfer from the Airport (gerona) five hours on a bus with little leg room not ideal there is a break half way but it is a long haul.

So to sum up

Fantastic hotel in a fantastic location

“Terrible service”

Terrible experience. In a week stay (from the 4th till the 10th February) with all the family (2 adults 3 child) for two times there was no heating in the room and no one took care of my reclamation. In a ski resort you can imagine the freezing during the night. The rooms are very old fashion and decadent. The shower was not working properly (couldn’t take a decent shower because water temperature was constantly changing). Management was lousy. NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL. IT’S MORE A 2 STAR. A spot to avoid……

“Beware of the building work!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2008

A nice hotel overall but some problems, If you get a room facing the rear and away from the road beaware there is major building work going on and it will be for a while yet, apparently they're building another hotel there! A member of staff said 5 years! The work starts at 7.30 am and whilst we stayed there this was a digger clearing ground a crane working and a generator going! This also created a lot of dust preventing us from opening the windows to air the rooms, They helpfully stop for breakfast at 9 but this was regular monday to friday! The hotel stinks of smoke, and as we couldn't air the rooms this lingered throughout the week, The rooms are a well soundproofed as a paper bag. However they are clean. The staff are helpfull if not a little clueless, they nod at your requests but nothing ever gets done. The food is ok and there is plenty of choice although most of our group suffered with stomach problems, we couldn't pin it down to anything specific. This hotel is ok, for the location it can't be faulted and the spa is great if not slightly overpriced.

“Fabulous hotel and location”

Have just returned from a fabulous stay at the Hotel Sport. Had read mixed reviews prior to travelling especially about the food but our mixed group aged 11 to 60's loved the hotel. The buffet meals were fabulous- I normally don't choose half board as I enjoy eating out but I was never tempted to find a local restaurant as there was so much choice, the breakfasts were also excellent and the non skiers in group enjoyed a leisurely breakfast. Close proximity to slopes and ski lockers was excellent. My mother enjoyed the adjoining luxury spa- the 3 hour sessions are around €35.
My only complaint was that my boyfriend and I had 2 twin beds pushed together rather than a double and the lack of fresh snow (snow canons did a great job though). The down duvets were beautiful and cosy and the rooms very warm.
Bars were a very short walk and provided great apres ski entertainment. Drinks were nice and cheap.
We would definitely go back to Soldeu and Hotel Sport and would recommend this accomodation.

“One of the best !”

Visited the Hotel Sport in Soldeu for yet another great holiday this year despite less than perfect snow conditions on the mountain.

This Hotel is one of our favourites and never fails to please. The staff are all very helpful, friendly and easy to talk to with most speaking good English.

Rooms are kept spotlessly clean and are light and spacious with good quality furnishings and a safe built into the wardrobe (small supplement payable). It can be a bit warm but this can be overcome by keeping the Bathroom door closed - there's a hot water pipe running through it.

Downstairs there's a very popular lounge bar with great staff and which extends through the rear of the ground floor to an area with large, soft, comfortable armchairs. Also on this level is a shop selling skis, ski boots and ski wear with very knowledgeable staff not only about the products they stock but also about the village, ski area etc.

Dinner is an eat as much as you like combination of hot and cold buffet with soups, salads and meats making it ideal for everyone from the very young to the shall we say more mature guests.

There are no leisure facilities within the Hotel but it is connected by an underground tunnel to a sister Hotel which has magnificent Spa and Pool facilities at extra cost but there are discounted rates for guests.

Ski lockers are in a building right accross the Street from the Hotel at the entrance to the building containing the main Gondola so it's very convenient for getting up the mountain.

I have stayed in this Hotel on many occassions since it first opened and I can honestly say the quality of accommodation and service it provides along with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere is excellent.
