“What a Wicked first time Ski HOLIDAY, Loved itttt”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2010

Me and my husband went to Andorra for his 30th brthday, never been skiing before didnt really know what to expect, spoke to people on trip adviser and all there information was absoloutely spot on , so i thank you all so much.
Our stayed at the Sport Village Hotel in Soldeu Andorra , from the 10th jan tothe 17th.We finally arrived after a long morning of travelling had to fly into Barcelona due to the heavy rain fall in Toulouse and then all our flight's bags went missing off of the belts at baggage reclaim founf them after an hour and a half, thought it was quiet funny really afetr the morning we had anyway four and a half hours on a coach to Andorra , was so tiring, but fun.
Andorra is a beautiful place and truly what you would expect if you was going to canada to go skiing all the hotels are wooden and have a very warm feeling when you arrive, the streets are small and oldy weldy, and stunning.
Arrived in our hotel and was greeted by plesent staff who checked us in fine and was told where our room was , we were on the second floor and there was a lift quiet small but fine for us not a problem .
Room was quiet basic but was very clean and again a cosy cottage feel to the room the view form our balcony looked out on to the slopes and was like out of a film it was amazing,.
Was quiet tired this night , but went to see our reps in one of the sister hotels the sport hotel just across the road, met steffi and sophie the grystal reps who were young and very friendly , and also had been skiing for years which was good had a lot of knowledege, we had however already found our ski hire shop which is located just out side the hotel do a left underneath a walk way which leads to the gonderliers and was met by wonderful happy satff, who were willing to help us and got us kitted out in all of our stuff, all hired from the uk with our rep, would next time , hire the skis and boots out there as it was cheaper.
We were then told we are unable to take our skis and boots in to the hotel and was shown to a locker room which opens at 8.30 am and closes at 5.30 pm and they are lovely who run it aswell, you some times have to share a locker so make sure that you dont keep anything personal in there or leave goggles in there.
Went to see our rep and told her that we had already got our ski stuff she told us to be ready by nine am in the morning to book morning ski school which again was cheaper to book there instead of at home, so would recommend to book direct.
Was totally blown away by the rudeness of the people from other countries like spanish , russian, germans, they would just push in after seeing a hugely visable que, all with english people in and they call us rude, i couldnt believe them.
The welcome meeting was ok not very useful and the booklet we had been given had all our information we neededin side it, the beds were comfortable in the hotels and had a safe which was free just have to activate your card at reception, pillows comfy aswell , tv was rubbish all spanish ans only had bbc one , ok if your out all the time but i got an infection while i was there , and could have done with a bit more tv,rooms comfortable and roomy and bathroom was clean and smart , shower not very powerful and some slight imperfections, crack in the sink and arm chair freyed , didnt bother us but thought u would like to know stayed in room 2216 which was right in the corner and had lovely black out blinds which were amazing.
All the staff in the hotel were very friendly, the only down fall was the smoke it hits u straight away being a non smoker felt over powered by the smoke as people smoke in all tehrestaurants , hotels, bars and on the slopes, i had good advice from a lady who said take another coat for the night outs as the smoke is really strong , god felt like me and my husband was the only non smoker s there.
the looby and lounges were beautifully decorated and all christmasy and comfortable with huge arma chairs with contempory decor and with a cottage feel.
Balcony was tiny but didnt use it the rooms were so hot though make sure you turn your heatings off we had our balcony door open most nights and it was lovely, the food in the hotel was ok good selection at breakfast and a large selection dinner was good but warm there was a microwave available to use but like my food hot when dished up, also make sure the chefs cook the meat and fish for long , as i had a couple of raw pieces and had to ask for them to be cooked, would definetly recommend everyone to go ski schoolit was absoloutely fantastic and Stuart our instructor was amazing and helpfull, after the second day was skiing well snow ploughing lolll , one of the best things i have ever done and am determined to go every year it was fantastic and would recommend to all to go.
its so funny when u see everyone walking with there ski boots on its like a different world lolll, we had lunch in the aspen again too smoky wanted fresh air and had lunch in there burger and chips was ok had better, then found the hidden gen the Bruxielles think that is how you spell it and the food was amazing and didnt try any where else after as this could not be beaten it was lovely about 25 euros for lunch huge portions though and homemade food , lasanger, pizzas like a cheese on toast thing that was amazing and drinks , We also got a day pass to use the hermitage spa again related to the hotel and it has got to be the best spa i have ever been to you can sit in the jacuzzi and watch the slopes and it is beautiful, the spa has five floors and an outside jacuzzi which is beautiful , had a lovely stay here and there was alot to do nd see, you do get very tired if you havent done it before but was well worth it, met some lovely peple and would definitly go back tomorrow if i could fantastic holiday couldnt have asked for more, but would defo stay in the hermitage next time as i neede the spa for my bloody aches in my body lolll would not recomend to go on the excursion with the reps to do tubing as it was 30 euros each and was a rubbish night there is only so many times you can go down a heel and it was over so quicky everyone felt the same as well bit rubbish would ahve paid 30 for 2 of us

“Very average food at such high prices”

We have stayed at this hotel several times over the last four years because of it´s excellent location but have noticed a definite decline in the general standards and service. We weren´t offered any free entry for one day to the spa as some people have commented. The rooms are a little small but have good views if you ask for a mountain side. The bar area etc. is spacious and relaxing with plenty of places to sit. The Argentinian staff have very good manners and provide nice service but the hotel lacks a certain friendliness and warmth. What really surprised us was the food as we noticed a real fall in quality. We ate for six nights running, six nights of hamburger (every night!), chicken once, a tough steak once, dry lamb and very dubious and cheap frozen fish every single night offered with no sauce or any kind of Spanish/local pizazz (apart from one night where we got salmon). I can´t belive that such an expensive hotel can´t source the quite marvelous local beef and lamb to offer it´s guests. The lamb was frozen, tasteless and from New Zealand. The only fresh food in the salad bar was the lettuce and tomatoes, all the rest, the carrots, beetroot, onion, carrot, gherkins, olives, tuna etc. was all pickled and out of a jar. The food here is not comparable to other hotels of similar standing we have stayed at. Dittto they are now skimping on details to "spoil" the guests such as bringing coffee to your breakfast table as in previous years. Now you have to get up and go to the buffet to get your own drinks and when you in a family with several children that means no peace. When such an expensive hotel starts to seriously skimp on food quality, variety and guest pampering it is instantly noticeable to it´s loyal customers and they ought to take heed. I really used to like this hotel, but after paying so much money for 5 nights I would definitely look at other cheaper options in Andorra. They are not looking after their customers like they used to.

“Very nice Ski Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2009

Nice views, to the ski tracks, with nice food and ambience. Catch the cabins right to the tracks and start skiing! A must! And the spa is amazing!

“A great intro to skiing with a family but not for Christmas”

A lovely looing hotel, large areas to sit and relax after skiing but you need to go to the local bars if you want a real apres ski or any sort of atmosphere. The location is incredible, you can be out of your room and on the ski lift in 5 minutes (if you don't count the walk to the locker room ;) We had views of the main slope from our room'

The food (buffet) was OK, not particuarly good for a hotel of this standard. The best night was the Christmas dinner which was very good but served Christmas eve - Christmas day was just another day....

Service was average at best, the reception and bar were not particuarly welcoming (or helpful) the waiting staff were very good.

The biggest disapointment for me was that we couldn't take the kids into the spa. One of the main reasons we chose the hotel was because it listed a pool which my children enjoy, Unfortuanately for us it was part of the spa and under 14s were banned. The spa looks beautiful and if you wanted spa/poo/jacuzzi/massage/beauty etc i am sure it would be great but i would have booked a cheaper hotel if i had known.

“Nice Hotel and right by the Gondola!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2009

After a 3-4 hour bus journey up snow covered roads into the Andorran mountains we arrived at the very well presented Sport Hotel Village. The 3 sport hotels are together on the main soldue strip and have the gondalla right in the center. The Ski hire was good and the lockers are located right next door to the hotel which was extremely useful.

The food was very good with a large selection available for breakfast and evening meal. Rooms were maybe a little small and we were located on the road side of the hotel but it did not prove to be noisy. The room and the hotel lobby was a little cold but considering where you are and why you are there it is not too much of a problem.

I would definately stay here again although it is a little pricey. We did not visit the spa as we felt this was too expensive at around £30 each!. They give you 1 free entry but it is limited to the day when you really should be up on the mountains enjoying the wonderful snow!!. We had 4ft in one day and skied around the mountain through the lightest flufyiest powder weve ever seen!!. Bit disconcerting for an amatuer when you cant see your knees but was great fun with Jon the excellent instructor.

Definately worth a visit!
