“Nice Hotel and right by the Gondola!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2009

After a 3-4 hour bus journey up snow covered roads into the Andorran mountains we arrived at the very well presented Sport Hotel Village. The 3 sport hotels are together on the main soldue strip and have the gondalla right in the center. The Ski hire was good and the lockers are located right next door to the hotel which was extremely useful.

The food was very good with a large selection available for breakfast and evening meal. Rooms were maybe a little small and we were located on the road side of the hotel but it did not prove to be noisy. The room and the hotel lobby was a little cold but considering where you are and why you are there it is not too much of a problem.

I would definately stay here again although it is a little pricey. We did not visit the spa as we felt this was too expensive at around £30 each!. They give you 1 free entry but it is limited to the day when you really should be up on the mountains enjoying the wonderful snow!!. We had 4ft in one day and skied around the mountain through the lightest flufyiest powder weve ever seen!!. Bit disconcerting for an amatuer when you cant see your knees but was great fun with Jon the excellent instructor.

Definately worth a visit!

“Fantastic Hotel with an excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2009

We originally stayed at the Sport Village some 5 years ago on our first Ski trip as a couple. It was pretty costy then but we did not know what to expect so went for the best at the time. We recently stayed from the 1st March 2009 to the 8th and things have pretty much not changed. The Hotel has an excelent location, you are right on the Gondula and the Hotel provides it's own locker room with no charge. for Ski and boot storage.
The Hotel is now connected to the Hermitage (5*) where you can book Spa treatments. When we arrived we were given a free 3 hour use of the pool facilities, which to be fair are second to none. We are not sure if this was due to going back or it is now given to all resident's. The cost normally is 44 euro's a day per person. I would not have paid this price as it is not worth the expense, but as a free entry we enjoyed it. You need to book it and collect robes from the reception desk. What they don't tell is that they charge 20 euro's per person if you don't take them back. Honestly, this is only a small point to remember.
Entertainment in the Hotel is minimal, (but this is not what you look for on a Ski holiday anyway!) the odd singer but to be fair the town is very small and has many bars for all ages and tastes. As we have actually been to Soldeu 4 times we are used to the bars but we did find a new one in the Sport Hotel which was quite nice. What you have to remember is that you can smoke anywhere unlike home which did effect us a bit..
There are some very good shops to buy Ski clothes and equipment which are much cheaper than home. Generally in March they have big sales and if you push they will give more discount. I had 40% of Descente when they were offering 30%.
We had a tremendous amount of snow which makes the holiday but the runs and variety are great for beginners and intermediates alike. The cafes on the pistes are pretty expensive so be prepared.
Overall the Hotel had an excellent standard of cleanliness, detail and the food was varied each evening. Since our last visit the restaurant has improved as it has more choice and freshly cooked meats/fish on offer each evening. We would recommend this Hotel and actually hope to return again next March.

Couldn't be closer to the slopes. Soldeau is having fab conditions for skiing.Hotel very relaxed plenty of choice food wise excellent spa family rooms spacious we had rooms overlooking the slopes. If you want to eat out we found Merlot restaurant superb. The Bruxelles Hotel does good lunchtime food, and Fat Alberts has good apres ski and good steaks.

“great location, very clean”

second time we stayed at this hotel, excellent location for the slopes, ski lockers etc. Hotel very clean, rooms very comfortable, arm chair in our room had seen better days though. Food in restaurant very repetetive this year, ate out on the last night for a change. Wellness Centre very good, outside jacuzzi amazing over looking the slopes, could have done with a glass of cava to sip whilst in there.

We stayed there with our son who is 18 and daughter 14 not much for the 14 year old to do in the evenings. And there is no smoking ban in Andorra which if your a non smoker is very noticible.

“Generally excellent, a couple of niggles...”

3rd stay at the Sport village in the last 4 years, so clearly I like it!

Location is brilliant, after 20 years of skiing I've yet to find anywhere with as good or better location. The messing around pre and post skiing can be a pain - this is kept to a minimum at the Sport Village.

Rooms are good. Food is great. Buffet. Plenty of choice. More than happy with bucks fizz, fresh fruit and made to order omlette for breakfast each morning. Dinner of salad (as many prawns/langoustine as you like) and tons of choice of mains - usually at least 4 or 5 meat/fish options including made to order meat and fish from the grill. Pasta, soup, kids stuff and many desserts. Oh and cheeses of course.

Our assigned waiter for each stay has always been excellent - particularly good this year.

Bar staff are generally good. Service around the bar can be patchy.

Great bar/lobby area with large comfy seats - perfect for a more comfortable apres ski and excellent for pre and post dinner drinks.

Rooms are fine. Getting a bit dated, but are generally well maintained. My biggest moan is the shower - water temp randomly changes - you get it just right and then it goes to luke warm to scolding and back again!

Wellness spa is excellent but expensive - €40 for 3 hours in the spa - pools, hot tubs, sauna, steam etc... perfect after a day's skiing though.

Got a free spa with this stay though, so paid for one more, even with that, €40 for 2 visits is still expensive.

Great massage at the spa too - €75, again expensive, but worth it.

Overall very good - some patchy service and the shower temp issue, but will definitely be back to the Sport Village if I go to Soldeu again.
