We’ve just come back from three nights stay. We booked direct through the hotel’s own website and saved money on what the booking sites were quoting.
The hotel is ideally located for exploring the sites and sights of Athens and is about 400m/5 minutes walk from the X95 airport express bus stop near Syntagma square.
The rooms are simply furnished and clean and the reception staff are extremely friendly and helpful, (thank you Pangiota). For the price we paid we could not have asked for or expected any more. We would certainly book to stay there again and recommend it to friends and family.
We had room 11 on the 2nd floor, (= many steps to climb), which had a balcony, handy as my wife is a smoker. The TV worked (we’ve lived in Greece so know how to find our way around Greek TV), the aircon heated, the Wi-fi signal was very good and there was plentiful hot water at a good pressure in the shower. There were a few items in our room which showed signs of having suffered a little at the heavy hands of the modern day traveller. Unfortunately, the vanity unit in the bathroom had been badly water damaged and needed replacement.
Away from the hotel, avoid the restaurants in Plaka if you are on a budget. Away from the hotel, avoid the restaurants in Plaka if you are on a budget. We arrived tired one afternoon and it cost us 7€ for 1L water, a small piece of bread and a few olives even before we ate overpriced and poor quality food and paid 10€ for ½L of house wine and 5€ for a ½L of Mythos. We are sure the food in others could be better, but they all seemed to be priced similarly.
In the Kimon’s reception you will find a small pocket sized map provided by Smile Restaurant very close to the Acropolis Museum. The map is extremely useful and the food, drink, hospitality and value for money from this family run restaurant are excellent!More
