Refugees from northern Europe needs the culture, climate, friendly people, service and prices and nature etc etc-of Madeira.
When also Pestana is located there, you can`t miss. Windy last time this Desember and New Year, but compared with Snow-Storms, - 20 Degr. Centi, this is just healthy and nice.
30 minutes walk to Centrum. No problem-along the Promenade. Nice people everywhere. Service and behavior of the population just nice, cultivated, no language problems, clean everywhere, very good hotel, food and service profesionell,shopping easy and of high quality, flowers, friuts,vegetables etc: we have already planned our trip nr. 6. Don`t forget Galleries, Music Arrangements during the year, Festivals and New Year Feuerwerk.

We spend the news years day in this hotel.
This is not a 5 star hotel.
I´ve been in many places, several hotel´s with 3, 4 or 5 stars.
The Satff, as no education, not professional, and inrresponsable.
The last day, as an horror for us!!!
we should leave the room at 12h. I ask if it was possible to stay 1 hour more, because, we only had flight at night. they said that we must paid 38 € to stay more time at the room.
We get out the room, and the bags stay we them in the hotel.
we leave the hotel, trusting the luggage will be safe at the hotel.
At night, when we get back to pick my bags, and simply desapear, vanisce!!!
Nobody from the hotel knows where the bags are?
Lucky your guide from the agency, made some calls and the bags appears in the aeroport.
Pass 15 days and I´m still waiting a call from the hotel, saying apologise or something.
There´s many hotels in funchal, don´t go to this hotel....

What a joy. A wonderful modern hotel with attentive staff and excellent facilities. This hotel well exceeds its 5 star rating. The bedrooms are well appointed, comfortable and a good size. Be sure to get a sea view as it is well worth additional money. There are also excellent restaurants in the vicinity.

my wife and i chose this hotel based on feedback on this site and the comments are very accurate ... the service and cleanliness were 1st class , the hotel is a bit out of town but with excellent restaurants and shops close by also access to town is cheap and easy .. the hotel itself is very reserved which is nice if you need to relax , the breakfast was good especially the fresh cooked omlettes and sparkling wine ... we would also like to recommend nearby restaurants i.e. Churrascaria Galinha Dourada , Real Canoa , O Baroquiero ..... the hotel restaurants were so so .... The free and requent town bus was very useful too .... Enjoy.
