I have just returned from a two holiday at the Tivoli Marina Portimao, we had a fantastic holiday, the hotel is in a prime location with stunning views.
The position of the hotel is excellent as you are at the edge of the beach and the mouth of the river, so you have the best of both worlds as you can have a very peaceful holiday around the marina or just along the beach up quite a lot of steps, you have Praia da Rocha strip where there is everything from fabulous five star restaurants such as the Atlantis or the Algarve casino, for a meal and show. to the other extreme with karaoke bars and discos.
Around the marina there is an excellent restaurants called No solo agua we had two fantastic meals there.
In the hotel we had a very good suite, quite large very clean and spacious, and I was very impressed with the roof terrace fantastic for late in the day sun bathing.
The rest of the hotel was a little disappointing as really it is a series of apartments around the marina and some of these are privately owned.
They were not enough sunbeds around the pool.Three times we walked along and they were all gone, and if your room is not in the main area of the hotel where the pool, bar and reception are, you have quite a long walk, to then turn around and walk back. They did have flat beds which were torn and damp on one side of the pool but you could not lie on them for very long as they were uncomfortable.
The setting for breakfast was fabulous it was lovely sitting outside on the decking looking out at the river with all the coming and going of the yachts. The food was okay not great, the coffee was terrible and I would have expected fresh orange juice at that standard of hotel.
The hotel bar had quite unusual décor with voile curtains and candles it looked great but had no atmosphere only went in twice, more than enough .
Overall the small problems we had did not spoil our holiday and we will defiantly go back to this resort. I think the hotel was good but I did not feel as if I was in a hotel more like an apartment.
I found this hotel in the Thomson chic and unique brochure and was not disappointed as it was certainly that.
