I was a little worried about staying here after reading the other two reviews. But it is now virtually finished. The hotel itself certainly is, though I think they may be building a restaurant at the side ... however this doesn't cause any problems.
It's not the easiest place to find - as you can see from the photo, it blends into the background. Best thing to do if walking from the station (as I was - about 10/15 minutes) is head for the large grey spire you can see from almost everywhere, then ask as it's tucked round one side of the Grote Kirche.
The staff are very pleasant, bi/tri-lingual and go out of their way to be helpful. The rooms are large ... both myself & my friend had booked single rooms but were both given twin rooms. The bathroom, too, is large with a bath as well as a shower; the only weird thing was the glass door & no lock to the bathroom.
The whole place looks and feels new, is clean and has most facilities. I didn't try the breakfast as I thought €18.50 a bit steep when there was a kettle & hot drinks in the room and restaurants/bars within a few yards where you can get breakfast much more cheaply.
I was very happy with my stay there and will definitely stay there again when visiting Haarlem.
