“Location location location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2010

The location of this hotel makes it! Right in the centre of everything and with the train station less than 5 minutes away. The room was basic but pleasant enough. Laura on reception was very friendly and was able to advise on lots of local attractions, and bars/coffeeshops!! All the staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. A already can't wait to go back.

“disaster”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

this is the letter I have written to the hotel management.

Hello again ,

I just wanted to inform you what we have faced in your hotel. We did
not want to have a bad experience during our holiday so I did not want
to bother you the managers at that moment but we really felt so bad
and negative about your crews' general treatment and behaviour, so I
wanted to share some details with you after we returned back.
This is not an email for getting a reply nor an apology but I felt
like I have to share some details with the hotel management so maybe
everything can be better in future as it has to be for all.

1) During our second day in your hotel , we have told your crew that
we will gonna stay one day more.Nothing was told by your crew to us
about what has to be done.So also we were not informed that we have to
pay.Besides we have paid all our 3 days money before we come, so we
could not understand why our luggages were thrown at the last day.
2) The last day which we planned to stay , which we also informed the
reception crew, we woked up early because our friends we returning
back to Turkey. So we left the hotel about 12:15 for a last lunch with
our friends.this means that we were in our rooms till 12:15.
3) After our lunch r with friends, we just thought about visiting a
big park in a far region from hotel region. And we went there.
4) When we returned the hotel at 19:00.There was a older woman at the
desk and she said that we dont have a room anymore and all belongings
we packed by the crew. When I checked our luggage , one bag was seem to
be obviously thrown. And there was no reservation in the reservation
book even we told the crew to be one day longer.
Lets forget about that they did a mistake , they did not even phone us
, before they decided to throw our luggage!
Despite of everything , we have waited for another room to be
organised ,with all our tiredness and hungerness.Anyway we paid
another 80 euros for that night.
5)Then , We had another trouble about not finding our room keys. The
responsible older woman in the reception told us that for loosing the
keys we have to pay 75 euros. Also she told that without the keys we
cannot get in our room.(even with the spare keys which you have for
housekeeping)..so again with all tiredness and hungerness we had to go
back to the far away park so that we can maybe find the keys and check
if all our belongings are ok.
6) Pls guess what happened! We could not find the keys. But the
behaviour of the hotel crew ( the old woman) has been shocked us.So we
told her to keep 75 euros from the 80 euros that we have paid for the
room (2 hours ago) and give the rest 5 euros , and we dont want to
stay in the hotel anymore..She was really really unbeleivably rude!
All we had told was " ok we are paying 75 euros for your keys but we
wont stay" she started to raise her voice saying the police will call
us if something happens in your hotel.Unbeleivable! I tried to wake
her from her rudeness by saying "hey , pls listen to us, we are not
bad people " she replied" i dont care and i wont listen to you " I
said" we have already paid for the keys, you can change it." But she
insisted to continue behaving rood by repeating that we will be in
trouble withe the police.I started to cut and again told her "to give
us our 5 euro back and we will leave"
She gave with highly raised voice saying that the keys are our problem
still even we paid the money!.By the way , because of these 1 more
hour also passed and it became 21:00.
7) When we were leaving and I told that she is being rood , she yelled
" i know, i am " as a reply.
8) The last part is the best! When I told her " police can call us
anytime , we will immediately check in somewhere else" She told her
favorite sentence ! " yeeeahhhh , pls check in another hotel.thats
better for us"
We looked for another hotel and what a qoincidence, we found one near
to yours, a better room even havğing an lcd (your reception crew even
could not give us the right remote controller of our tv!) ; the price
of a double room was just 60 euros.
9) And they have a very intelli, gent check in check out control system
using boxes on the stairs.
10) After we checked in our new room , it was already : 21:35.We got
into our room at last! I have checked the belongings , all our creams
were mixed up and they did not put our soap and bath gel sponge.
We were able to have our dinner at 23:30.
This is shortly what we have faced in hotel old quarter because of
your crews misinforming and rude behaviour.
I do not know who is that older woman staying in the reception but
there is something wrong especially with her and your reception
processes..
Hoping you to understand and be aware of the rudeness in your hotel..

Sincerely
Cigdem Cakmak & Huseyin Avci

“Brilliant for low budget”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

Staff were very helpful from the moment we arrived by giving us a better room with a view. Perfect location, just a few minutes walk from everything. Resteraunt is very relaxed and good food. They give you 10% off food if your staying at the hotel. Only down point that could effect some people but we didnt really find it a problem was the thin walls so you can hear if someone is going into their room next door. Apart from that would definatly reccomend if your on a budget!

“Super hotel in very good location with nice staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2010

This hotel is basic and clean and I can say I enjoyed the stay; I paid around £140 for 2 nights in one of the luxury rooms. The in the view was fantastic in this room and the hotel was located in the heart of Amsterdam with a short walk to the train station.
Some of the other people I went with stayed in the smaller rooms which are fine but I would recommend paying that little bit extra for the luxury room.
The staff are very nice and the food in the hotel bar is good, also next door is a super coffee shop (Hunters) but keep an eye out for one of the smoke dealers, he feels that is ok to take advantage with the smokers b by using tricks like overcharging on deals ect

“casual level of comfort with a perfect location just in an old city centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2010

Very basic and clean enough hotel, with a lovely Amsterdam atmosphere - very high and narrow stairs, old windows. First room we've been offered was a really small corridor type, with 2 separate beds, after our complain we got a much better room in an opposite building - with a big double bed, 4 windows (!) on a 3rd floor! The room was just great! The location is great - you can reach most of the sights by foot, but it is too noisy for sleeping - in the night you hear the tourists all around and in the early morning they start cleaning the streets and collecting garbage from the streets - so close the windows and take the ear plugs if you have problems sleeping in a noisy places. Toilette and shower are clean enough for a shared facility, nothing scary, but I always prefer to use my own slippers. Decorations and interiors are quite old and used enough, but everything is cozy and clean, stuff is really friendly and helpful. Breakfast is small (2 fried eggs, small piece of bacon, bread with butter and jam), coffee they always give more on a request. At the hotel restaurant you have 10% discount, if you want to eat something. I would definitely come back and can recommend it for young couple or friends for a short period of time (we were 4 nights there).
