We just returned from our trip to Italy to drop our daughter off for a year of study in Bologna. We were in Florence for 5 wonderful days. The Hotel David more than lives up to the hype you read in these reviews. Nothing can prepare you for the level of sincere service and remarkable comfort extended by Gabriele and staff. The hotel rooms are large and nicely appointed. We traveled with our four children 21, 20, 16 and 14. The kids stayed in a huge room with a king size bed and two singles that included a long desk area where two could easily be online. The breakfast was generous and Jonathon was a gracious host. My husband particularly enjoyed the garden courtyard with the relaxing happy hour in such a beautiful setting. The whole family counts the Hotel David and staff as a highlight of our trip. We truly hope to return someday!

Just back from a wonderful few days in Florence made all the more memorable by the fantastic staff at the Hotel David.
The hotel itself is a charming old building which has been tastefully restored. The rooms are very quaint and spotlessly clean and the location outside of the city centre makes for a very peaceful night's sleep!
The real stars of the show however are the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they really go the extra mile to make sure each one of their guests has the best possible stay.
I can't recommend this hotel highly enough and will not stay anywhere else during future visits to Florence.

We "dropped into" this hotel the day before we were booked to check in for two nights....we had a change of travel plans. The very helpful man at the desk said "no problem...your room is ready and at the same rate". He called the hotel in Verona that we were suppose to be at (which had a no cancellation policy) and explained our situation...they said they would not charge us for the night. He went on to advise us of all the amenities...free wireless internet, business center if we didn't have a computer, 10 minute phone call each day, breakfast included, complimentary drinks & hors d"oeuvres each night from 6:30-8pm in the beautiful little garden! And the staff were all incredible!! The rooms are a touch dated but this little Boutique Hotel was so welcoming. We were a beautiful 15 minute walk to the Pont Vecchio. We are use to staying at Westin's but we wanted to try something different and were pleasantly surprised!

Though it's about a 15 minute walk to Ponte Veccio (which leads you to all the main attractions in Florence), Hotel David is not to be beat. The staff here was amazing. They greeted us in perfect English and explained everything from how to take the bus to Ponte Veccio to what sites to see. They also explained the "happy hour" offered everyday (wine, juice, and appetizers), the mini-bar policy (everything in it is free the first time!), and breakfast times (which included eggs, cereal, danish and more). The room was very clean and in a quiet neighborhood. Some rooms have balconies, but even without (as was ours) the room was a good size and more than comfortable). The amenities were fabulous as explained above, plus there is free wi-fi (and a shared computer if you need) and you get one free international call a day per room. Honestly, when we return to Florence, this will be the first place we would look to book!
