This hotel was easy to find when we got out of the station (direct train from Pisa Airport), the staff made us feel welcome and were very efficient in checking-in and out as well as the staff at breakfast who were superb and incredibly hard working.

The rooms and decor of the hotel was looking a bit dated, but I suppose in some way added to the charm. I think also the Jacuzzi was probably also in need of a service as the water jets didn't seem as vigorous as the photo's on the website!

However, the place was very clean and there was always someone doing more cleaning which was nice.

Once you got your bearings around Florence it was quite a good location to be in. We unfortunately went at a time when the weather was scortching - 40degrees and humid.

I'd certainly stay here again and reccomend it to friends and family. My only fault other than the decor is the walls were a bit too thin and there was a fair amount of noise.

Just got home today. We spent the night at this hotel before returning home. The location is great - especially if you are going to take the train. Super clean rooms, big bathroom, air conditioning works and we had a large sitting room. Breakfast is good and staff is excellent. We stayed in an apartment for first part of our trip in Italy and I would for sure stay at the Rivoli instead again any day.

My mother and I recently spent a week at the Best Western Hotel Rivoli and had a wonderful visit to Florence. The staff went above and beyond in every instance. Our room was beautiful, overlooking the courtyard, super clean and roomy, but unfortunately, there were a few steps that had to be climbed to get to the room. Since my mother has multiple myeloma, climbing steps is very difficult for her and we requested another room after she attempted the stairs for a few days. The people at the desk were very pleasant and kind and immediately found us another room that overlooked the courtyard - it wasn't as roomy, but it was next to an elevator that provided easy access to our new room. They provide a coffee pot with coffee packets, tea and condiments upon request. My mom thought that the hotel had a "hot tub", it actually was more like a small pool and the water was not very hot -- don't know if we were supposed to turn something on or not - but it wasn't what we expected.

We ate in at the breakfast buffet every morning and the staff there was also very accommodating and friendly. (Ask for the cappuccino - it is wonderful!!) There was a very good selection of food and it was always tasty. The gentleman at the bar was my favorite! Always a smiling face to greet us on our return back to our room and always excellent service.

The location of this hotel is excellent if you are not renting a car. Everything is nearby and taxi service is readily available - only had to wait a minute or two for a cab. If you are in average shape (not sick or elderly) you could virtually walk to almost all of the major attractions in Florence from this location. It is also very close to the train station and the bus station, so you have access to all of Italy. We took the Best of Tuscany Tour http://www.walkaboutpass.com/, which was very enjoyable, and the meeting place was right in front of the train station. Unfortunately, this tour is not ideal for the handicapped, because there is some walking uphill, but I would highly recommend this tour if you are able. Actually, although my mother could not walk up to all attractions, she did enjoy what she was able to do and see very much.

There is a very reasonably priced restaurant right down the street called La Grotta di Leo. We ate there several times because everything was so good. They do have a tourist menu, which is a great deal at 12 euros and includes your wine, so be sure to ask for that. Everything we had there was excellent and the service was good.

Some friends asked me why I would book a Best Western in Italy. I told them the reviews on Tripadvisor sounded really good and it was near the train station in Florence. What a great choice I made! It was in a great location - just about a block and a half from the main station. The rooms were really lovely and spacious. The breakfast was free, and although not an "American" type buffet, there was still plenty to choose from. I would have really liked free internet, but we paid for one day and it was not really expensive. The decor was more modern than some other hotels, but we really liked it. Our room had a rather large flat screen tv, which was nice. There was a safe in the closet, and the bathroom and bed linens were first class. The staff was so nice and offered directions and tips about when to go where, etc. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Florence, and even more so if you are traveling by train.
