“Uncomfy bed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2007

The room is clean but the decor needs some uplifting as it is currently bare/plain looking/ old fashion for a 4 star hotel. I find the bed and pillows hard and uncomfy.
Location wise - abt 10-15 mins walk to the Duomo. No grocery store/restaurants nearby.
Bfast was good, however one of the waiter has a bad body odour, everytime he entered the small dining room, i had to hold my breath!
Staff at the reception was not so friendly, not pleasant looking.

“Ok!!”

Very good location, clean and comfortable rooms. I enjoyed stay in this hotel and will stay here when visit Milan next time. Only breakfast and staff in reception could be a little bit better.

“Great bedroom.”

Good location although the area gets very quiet at night. Reception staff have fluent english and although very efficent, smiling is not on the agenda. Stayed in room 62 which is excellent, spacious, clean with mini bar and tv. Breakfast selection is good but you need to be down early as when the goodies are gone, thats it! Breakfast Supervisor was the only friendly staff member we encountered during a 3 day stay.

“Excellent value”

Our stay at the hotel Lloyd during the last week of May was an extremely pleasant experience and one which we would want to repeat. Located at C.so di Porta Romana, 48, the hotel is about 15 minutes gentle walk from the Duomo and nowhere in the city centre where we wanted to go was more than about 30 minutes away on foot.
Our double room was comfortable and well maintained with good sound insulation - the streat outside has a lot of traffic but we didn't notice it. A decent sized bath/shower with plenty of hot water was an added advantage. Breakfast in the hotel was generous and well supplied: coffee just as I like it. Staff were extremely helpful in arranging taxis, recommending (inexpensive and good quality) restaurants etc.
For the record, my wife is disabled - she uses a wheelchair and can walk a little - apart from a small step into the foyer, access is on the flat. The lifts are a little small for a wheelchair and she had to stand.
We had a great time in Milan and the hotel contributed to it. Definitely go again and for info the rate charged was €150 for Wed/Thurs and €100 for Fri/Sat/Sun including breakfast.

“perfect location, pity about the sourly staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2006

We stayed only for 3 nights for the purpose to go to "La Scala" theatre and to see the "Cenacolo" (Last supper) of Leonardo da Vinci. The hotel is beautifully positioned: 3 minutes away from the banking hub of Milan and presumably the international Milan stock exchange; 10 minutes away from the Duomo and a tram opposite the hotel to take you to the Sforza castle and related museum. The hotel provides only breakfast but the rooms cannot be faulted and certainly it is an hotel to keep in mind. Asking the reason why the prices were not advertised in the brochure, the response was that they changed them according to what is going on in Milan and therefore they are on application. This to me is a bit unethical. Breakfast was adequate if one can forget the so called fruit juices that remind one of Koo-lay or very watered down proper orange/grape juices. On the last morning there were no cereals because they had run-out; no effort was made to run across the road and buy a few packs: after all we came down at 9.30am! cold meats, cheese, croissants, bread rolls, jams and butter and yougurts available: I have seen and eaten better breakfasts in a 2 star hotel! There is a bar but is just for show or requirement for the classification: it is not staffed and is serviced by the reception if by the grace of God they have the inclination to help you.The attitude of the reception staff was pretty awful: if one had asked them to smile they would not have know how to do it! Only one person was reasonably accomodating and he was of Indian origin, the other Italians were a pretty miserable lot.
