I regularly use the Atahotel Executive for business trips to Milano. Generally, satisfied with the quality.
Location: opposite to Garibaldi station, 8 minutes by taxi from Milano Centrale main station, 10-15 minutes from Cadorna station (airport train), 1 hour from Milano Malpensa airport. I do not recommend taking the underground in Milano. The hotel is located at the north-bound end of Corso Como, which give a nice walk (25 min) towards the city center. However, there are hotels better located for tourism.
The Garibaldi / Porta Nuova area is a construction side and will remain so, don’t expect a nice view.
Reception: not the most friendly, but experienced and professional. During the last three years, the main staff has not noticeably changed and is at least middle-aged, so they show professionalism (as opposed to some hotels with mainly underpaid inexperienced newbies).
Rooms: the hotel has six floors, business rooms are in the upper floors. Aim for a room towards the street, not for the court yard (there is a disco down there and the noise may penetrate into the rooms). Rooms are rather spacious, traditional style (dark wood, elegant fabrics). You’ll find a sofa and a decently sized desk. Good mattresses, curtains to keep the light out. Thick carpet all around, so virtually no outside noise. Air conditioning available and necessary in Milano in summer time, however, somewhat noisy. There is Wireless Internet available, but rooms are sometimes not well covered.
Cleaning/Housekeeping: professional staff, I could never complain here.
Breakfast: for Italy, decent breakfast with some fresh juices and fruit, some cakes etc. Not spectacular, but ok. Try not the coffee offered to you, but ask for a cappuccino or espresso.
Amenities: no gym or sports room.
Hint: try to book via their website and look for special offers.
Summary: a good business hotel with some smaller flaws.
