“Really disaster!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2009

1. On check-in they say: "We have a problem in your room so we will move you in another hotel for one night..."
2. Second night we found bedbugs or termites in our bed!!! They changed our room...
3. In the last day I've asked the guy at the reception to take our luggage to the luggage room. He said ok. When I come back to the hotel after 7 (!!) hours out, our luggage still WAS in the corner of the lobby!!!
4. In addition: dirty and dark rooms, bad location, extremely rude and impolite staff, night administrator was drunk, tiny bathrooms without window.
Summary: recommend this hotel to your enemy

“Stop Moaning great hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2009

I have stayed here twice now and I must say I cannot see why people moan. Our room both times has been nice, clean and a good size with airconditioning etc. Very clean rooms. The staff are really worked hard but are keen to help.
Breakfast is fine and lots to chose from.
Its a 5 min walk from the metro underground which gets you to the spanish steps in 5 stops and costs 1 euro for 75 mins travel so really cheap.
We hire a motorino and this is great for getting about and you can park this anywhere in the city.
Rome is expensive for hotels so this one is such good value for money. What would you get in London for the same money?

“Doesn't deserve the bad reputation.”

After reading some of the negative reviews on here, I approached my holiday with some hesitation. I needn't worry however, the hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood with excellent local amenities, excellent after a busy day of sight-seeing in more mainstream areas with some excellent resturants and bars.
Staff were incredibly friendly, and were able to answer any queries we had and recommended restaurants and places of interest. The rooms were of impeccable standard, and everything neatly presented and the view from the balcony was excellent. The secret garden and terrace were welcome treasures, and relaxing with a few drinks after a long, hot day was an aspect to look forward to.
Cornelia station is easily close by, and takes five minutes by foot. Trains are air-conditioned and come every two to three minutes, and you are in Spagna by ten minutes.
Breakfast was lovely, an excellent array of hot and cold food ranging from pastries and a selection of hot and cold drinks.
Overall, an excellent week, with great company and lovely customer service. Keep up the good work.

“Poor Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2009

Hotel rooms are very small, booked a double room but the room I was given was very small about 8 X 10 ft. There were two single beds which is not ideal as a couple, the bathroom was very small also . I asked kindly for a room change and the reception were very rude, I got there at 2.00pm to check in but he informed me all the other rooms were booked in a very angry tone, although I could see other rooms available on his books.
My friends got a better room than us with two beds joined and a room size of 12 X 12, the bathroom was much larger and nicer, the toilet did not flush properly and the AC was very noisy. They did not bother to complain as they were happy with the room size and did not want to get a room like ours.
We bought a bottle of champagne and left it open in our room on the first night, on returning from our day trip out on the second day, our room was nice and clean with our bottle missing.
I would never book at this hotel again or recommend it to anyone. Find an alternative.

“Good Value, Interesting Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2009

My wife and I booked the Hotel Waldorf for a 3 night stay despite some concerns stemming from reviews on this website. The deal was too good to pass and it had been reccomended. In the end, I was more than happy with my experience because the Waldorf happens to be a great value. The service is reasonably good, the rooms and public spaces are clean, and the location provides easy access to all of Rome's brilliant attractions via the Cornelia Metro. The neighborhood was safe, filled with shops and restaurants, and it was actually quite interesting to watch the average Roman go about his daily business in what seemed a typical neighborhood. I don't really think you can go wrong with this property unless you have outlandish expectations. It is a budget hotel but certainly delivers in terms quality/price ratio...I have to wonder if many of the bad reviews were not written by people with relatively little experience traveling in Rome, where standards in terms of room size are below those of other cities. As for me, I now know the Waldorf is a reliable option any time I return to the beautiful Eternal City!!!
