“No frills - good staff and location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The reception was very helpful, the common rooms were large and spacious and the location was good. The room was a decent size, but it had a slight odor - like someone had smoked in the room and they still didn't have it aired out. The bathroom was decent but the water pressure was horrible. I have very thick hair and had to wash my hair in the sink. There was no way I could do it in that shower!

The first night the hotel was quiet. The next two nights we heard water, shower/ toilet sounds from the other rooms all night long.

The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the station. We found a better route once we had been there a day or so. It's down a quiet street, but there is a street market during the week. It was a little hard to roll suitcases through the market. The reception gave us a map of Rome when we first arrived and recommended the Caio Roma bus tour (DON'T DO IT! - We did and regretted it. There are way better choices.) They told us about the close sights (a Cathedral, la Repubblica, etc) and the restaurant next door (we ate there twice - it was good). There is also a grocery store up the street - although it's not very recognizable as one from the outside. They have a lot of signs asking you not to eat in your rooms, but the common areas are large, so you may be able to do it there. Check out was early (10am), but we could keep our luggage there and they had a bathroom in the common area so we could clean up before leaving.

I booked directly through the hotel website and paid less than $100 per night, so I guess I can't complain too much!

“Super friendly staff and quiet location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

Last week my sister arrived in Rome 3 hours before me, only to discover that 1800hotels had cancelled our pre-paid reservation at Hotel Selene. The staff at the other hotel arranged a room for us at Corona Hotel. The Corona Hotel staff were very friendly to my sister and myself. We overslept the breakfast times and got a friendly call at the11:00 a.m. check-out time, which we also had slept through! We finally left at 11:30 and they let us keep our luggage with them until we sorted out our other reservation. The rooms are basic and clean and all that you need. It is located at the end of a quiet street. The restaurant next door was good.

“Neat, tidy and in handy location”

Friendly staff greeted me upon arrival, providing me with map of Rome and advice on accessing sights and an offer of assistance in booking tours. The hotel is in walking distance of Termini station (footpaths all the way) and is a short walk to Via Nationzale to catch the 64 bus to the Vatican. There are plenty of eateries in the vacinity of the hotel and a small market operates daily just outside the front door. Given this fact the room was surprisingly quiet, and I didn't even hear the lift which was immediately outside my door. Although the room was not plush, it was comfortably furnished and I thought large for similar priced rooms I have experienced in Europe. I noted that the rack rate for this room totalled 215 euro per night including cold breakfast and air con. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay, but would look for a cheaper rate via the internet.

“Great little hotel and good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

This was a nice little hotel close to the Roma Termini. We booked this hotel because of the other reviews we have read.

My wife and i stayed here from July 2 - July 6. It was a difficult hotel to find as it was hidden in an alley on Napoli street.

If you stay at the hotel more than 3 nights..you do not have to pay for wireless internet.

The hotel staff was nice and answered all questions we had. They suggested some places to eat and see.

The restaurant right next to the hotel Corona..is a great restaurant...we ate their our first night and were not disappointed.

The room was a little small but since it was just my wife and me...it was suitable. The shower was very small...but i guess all European hotels are about this size.

The hotel was in a pretty good location. We walked to all the attractions. Be prepared to do a good amount of walking. The Roman coliseum and forum was about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. The vatican was about a 25 - 30 minute walk from the hotel. Every other attraction was within 30 minutes walking distance from the hotel.

The public transportation is very easy to use in Rome. There was a subway (Metro) stop near the hotel that could be used to get to many of the attractions.

The breakfast was average...but it did the job to kick start our morning everyday.

I would return to this hotel again.
