“Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2009

Easy to find hotel within short walking distance to the centre of Toledo. Stayed for three nights and made a day trip to Madrid which is only 30 minutes away by train. The rooms were fine with nice views and we did not find them too noisy. I'd booked this hotel on their parent company's website and was given the impression that the breakfast was free to those who booked online (in addition to a 10% discount for an up-front payment for the accommodation). However this proved not to be the case and we had to pay for the breakfasts. Following considerable discussions with the hotel manager it appears I missed some fine print on the website that indicated the offers were mutually exclusive. Parking is also far too expensive. What I thought initially to be a value for money hotel eventually proved not to be the case.

“Great hotel choice, at least if you have a car”

For those arriving in Toledo by car, this is a great place to stay. Driving in Toledo would generally be a challenge, to say the least, but this hotel is easy to get to if you follow the hotel's directions. You basically enter the city on the east side and drive a ring road around to the south.

But not only is the location convenient, it's also quite scenic, with a great view of the river and hills beyond. A 10 minute walk into the heart of town -- a bit uphill, but all but the elderly will have no pariticular difficulty (my 8 year old didn't complain once!).

Rooms and bathrooms aren't particularly large, but they're large enough and very tastefully furnished. Bed was firm and comfy. Atmospheric, like staying in a small inn.

Front desk staff spoke great English with friendly and efficient service. The desk clerk recommend the City's "tapas tour" brochure, which shows the dozens of bars and restaurants each offering a specialty 2 euro tapas (not sure if this is a seasonal promotion). This is a great deal for dinner, as restaurant meals are expensive (at least to this American). We had a very fun, tasty and filling "bar crawl"(that even kids can participate in) at a modest price.

Our rate did not include breakfast, but there is a nice old-fashioned bakery right up the staircase behind the hotel. The room has a minibar, so we bought some "jamon" and cheese the night before when we were in the central square, and had it with our fresh bread for breakfast.

My only hesistation in recommending this hotel would be the location for non-car travellers. It seems like it would be on the opposite side of town from the train station. Consider this before booking.

“Relatively central hotel, but on a noisy road.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2009

The hotel is on the edge of the old town and all the sights can be reached on foot.
The rooms are simple, but spacious and clean. Unfortunately the hotel is on a noisy road and so we got woken up several times every night. Better not to sleep with an open window.
The staff are very helpful. The breakfast buffet is ok but not great.

“a real taste of Toledo -- view of river and Jewish quarter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2009

We spent our first night of a 2 week trip to Spain here, only wish we could have had more time. The hotel is in a 16th century home which has been refitted with all modern conveniences w/o losing its original feeling. Our room had a lovely view of the river and bluffs on the other side. We were within easy walking distance of the old town. Parking beneath the building was a godsend, as the streets are incredibly narrow. Ask the hotel for directions, if you're driving, as getting there was a bit tricky.
No problem totally recommending this hotel.

“Good value”

I chose this hotel because we were coming in from another city by car and we were leaving in the morning via the Madrid airport. The hotel is very easy to locate by car. The have indoor parking for a fee of 12 euro per night. The hotel is very small, but has a lot of charm. The room was nice and clean, but overly scented with perfume, which was an issue for me. The bathroom was very small but functionally. The hair dryer was the best I ever used in all of Europe. The staff is affable and very helpful. The city center is a 15 minute walk. Beware everything shuts down in this town as most visitors come for a day trip so we did have a very difficult time finding somewhere to eat for dinner. Across from the hotel is a nice view of the river and the hills, down side is so is the bus stop. There was so much noise coming from the bus stop, starting again early in the morning. If you left the window open it’s like being out on the street, with no privacy. We elected to have breakfast at the hotel as we were leaving early for the airport. Very descent breakfast with lots of cakes, fruit, meat and cereal, the breakfast room was very charming. Note, if you are leaving via the Madrid airport it’s at least an hour and half drive. We paid 60 euro for the night to include breakfast, but not parking, so it’s a good deal.
