“EXCELENT!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2010

We spent a weekend at the hotel. We had a superior room and it was more than I expected. I would rate it with five stars. The staff is very professional and helpful. The quality of the room is superb. The staff at breakfast could not be more attentive. I think is a great option and good value for money compare with other hotels which lack in personality.

“lovely stately hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2009

villa soro is a beautiful old world hotel. our room (in the old part of the hotel) was attractive and very comfortable. all the public areas are pretty, nicely furnished and relaxing. the breakfast was good and all the staff we met were very professional. the hotel is within 5 minutes walk of the lovely arzak and alona berri restaurants and within 10-15 minutes walk of the old town pintxos bars and main beach. a very pleasant experience.

“Effortlessly elegant and charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2009

This hotel is simply stunning. The rooms and public areas are immaculate without being cold and stark. In fact, the hotel has a cosy ambience with fresh flowers in the entrance and magazines scattered in the sitting room. The staff are unobtrusive, yet seem to appear out of nowhere if you need anything. The deal we had included breakfast, allowing us to take it in our rooms for no extra cost. It came served on a tray with linen napkins and plenty of food. Our room was in the stable block and we had a small terrace which would be lovely to take full advantage of in the summer. The room was spacious with all the amenities you would expect from a 4 star hotel. The bathrooms are sumptuous with lots of goodies to pamper yourself with.

The hotel is located about 20 minutes walk from the centre of town. We didn't mind at all as it's one of the loveliest hotels we've stayed in and can't wait to go back.

stayed at Villa Soro for five nights to celebrate his 50th birthday. From the moment we arrived at the airport and were met by the taxi driver arranged by the hotel, we were very well looked after. The hotel is an elegant, yet homely place with fantastic helpful staff. Check in was efficient. The rooms are clean, spacious and quiet, even though ours was facing the road into San Sebastian and we left our window open at night. We had breakfast in our room and it was more than adequate. Villa Soro is a good 15 minute walk into San Sebastian and we enjoyed this aspect. You can walk along the seafront promenade into the old town. We ate on the quay one afternoon and the turbot and bottle of Rioja were fantastic! We also visited a number of tapas bars and as previous reviews have stated the standard is very high. They are bustling places after about 7.30 at night. The La Cuchara was our favourite were we sampled a selection of the hot items off the menu all delicious. We also visited Martin Berteguisi (incorrect spelling i think) as a special treat and had a fantastic dining experience from his tasting menu (not cheap but well worth it). The restaurant staff were attentive, and brought out a cake with a candle for my husband. Martin even came out and we had photographs with him, a signed menu and dinner plate, all in all a perfect evening. Unfortunately we had to cancel our planned trip to Exteberri so that will be included in our next trip, because i fully intend to return. San Sebastian has it all, the beautiful green scenery (it did rain on and off during our stay), three beaches, panoramic views, romantic walks, the bustling old town with the tapas bars and restaurants and the new town with great retail! We were in town at the same time as the film festival and i was relieved that i had not booked into the Maria Christina as the hotel was constantly surrounded by paparazzi. We did see Brad Pitt though!
