3 nights.Very clean, and quiet room, with a huge and comfortable bed. Varied, and quality breakfasts. Easily walkable to centre/main places of interest. When we arrived , we saw that we had booked a room at the side of the hotel. The room was fine, but upgraded to front room instead - WELL worth extra -Perpetually interesting view of river and promenading citizens of Bilbao and their (surprisingly quiet )dogs. You CAN see the Guggenheim , but its not opposite , and partly obstructed by a bridge. Still, its a very interesting bridge when arch on bridge starts to light up in always changing patterns :Seems to be a "K" shape- Maybe Jeff Koons (?).
Guggenheim is essential ,both inside and out and is more than likely why you are there in the first place. Museo de Bellas Artes , worthy , but much less essential.
Suggest Prada A Tope in the old quarter for dinner (Menu del noches -3 courses plus Wine/ water and bread for 25e pp). We ate there twice , excellent both times (try the white cherries in liqueur for dessert from the main menu - estupendo). Avoid Harrobia as we found all the food theretruly horrible (and not just 'not to our taste').
The funicular railway (just behind hotel) is worth a trip for great view of Bilbao ,and the Guggenheim. We would definitely go back to this hotel. Be sure to book a No Smoking room if that is what you want -specifying on the day you arrive would be at extra cost.
