5-10 minute walk to old town on one side, Guggenheim on the other, and center city over the foot bridge. Close enough to the action but didn't hear a thing on a night of a big festival. Helpful staff. Clean, moderate, but a tiny bit tight rooms. Can't complain for Europe though.

This was tied as my favorite hotel of our Spain trip (Catalonia Port in Barcelona being the other). Very reasonably priced, the rooms were large for Europe, and it’s right on the river near a pedestrian footbridge. The only downside is that the shower was just a square stall, and I’m not sure why they didn’t extend it out further as there was room to do so. But aside from that, the room was nice, clean, and modern. Internet was included. The hotel staff were the friendliest we had in Spain. As an aside, the look of the hotel is very unique and quite easy to spot from the tram. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bilbao.

Stayed in Hesperia in September 09 for one night. Very funky hotel, very helpful at reception, nice restaurant and the room we had was fantastic (if a little dark).

Centrally located and overlooking the river, this one of the most affordable hotels we could find and it turned out to be a great deal. Sometimes really modern hotels which are budget priced can be tacky but Hisperia was actually cool. You can walk over the footbridge and be the Guggenheim in a 15 mins. We would absolutely stay there again.
