I spent one week at the Hotel Courcheneige with my husband at the end of January. My husband and I don't live in the same country so there was a lot of pressure for the holiday to deliver, and waow was I impressed. I have been back to work for two weeks and I am still on Cloud Nine.
Where do I start? The location of the hotel is spot-on on the pistes, I think it is the highest hotel at 1850. There is a ski shop in the hotel, so you just need to get your kit and off you go to ski down to the lifts. The staff is great, and they are happy to discuss your needs and abilities at length!! (and change your skis when you realise that maybe you are not as good as you first hoped)!
Breakfast at the hotel is a buffet, with freshly squeezed orange juice, hot drinks, and a large selection of cold and hot foods to choose from. I don't think I ate twice the same during the week and each breakfast was a feast! A fantastic start to busy skiing days. Courchevel is a great skiing location for beginners and advanced alike. You can stay in the resort or go to Meribel and Val Thorens if you feel adventurous, so little chance of getting bored there.
We had a fabulously sunny week so that we enjoyed lunch on the terrasse of the hotel every day. The terrasse is large, always busy, and they have fantastic wood burning stoves that look and smell great! There is great attention to detail with black table cloths and matching napkins. Fantastic starter buffet everyday with a choice of a lot of things; basically you can eat there every day for a week and eat something different and yummy every day. The staff is great, they are fast if you want to get back on the pistes but don't rush you if you just want to lazy around in the sun. The hot food is always served fast but hot and perfectly cooked (how they do it remains a mystery!). It is excellent.
In the evenings, you can sit inside the restaurant, and have a drink at the bar beforehand. The bar has a great atmosphere, with very romantic lighting, and I must say my husband and I hogged the sofa by the fireplace most evenings! Everyone makes you feel so much at ease, so you feel really at home and not so much in a hotel. The fire is on from the mornings onwards, creating such a great chalet feel.
I also had the pleasure of having a massage and a facial at the hotel, and I can very highly recommend both of these. So relaxing, and I felt like new the next day!
So basically, I would definitely recommend this hotel 100%, it has a fantastic location, the staff are great, the food is excellent, there is also great attention to detail and it is so cosy it makes for the most relaxing and romantic holiday!!! If you need to reconnect with your other half whilst enjoying great skiing, and keeping the whole thing affordable, this is definitely the place to be..

I have been coming to Courchevel 1850 over the last 18 years and stayed in most hotels up and down the star rating as my fortunes have changed. Two years ago I discovered the Courcheneige and find it to be the best option by far compared to the other hotels. It is comfortable, cosy and the service is friendly. I am a very fussy eater but I always find many things of my liking on the buffet that is on offer at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service is relaxed but efficient and the location is by far one of the best you can get. The rooms are clean and comfortable and even though they might not be as flash as the type of rooms I stay in when I generally travel (always 5 star) it doesn't really matter as the value is so much better than anywhere else. Now that i have discovered this place, I would find it ludicrous to stay anywhere else

This place really has everything you can dream of for a great skiing holiday. The hotel is comfortable and cosy with a big open fire in the lounge and a great atmosphere throughout the whole establishment. The staff is professional and friendly and always willing to help whatever is needed. The restaurant is fantastic and everything from the fresh cappuccino in the morning, the incredible array of food on the buffet for breakfast and lunch, the post skiing pancake and hot chocolates to the typical skiing meals for dinner as well as the drinks in the bar are just delicious! And this is without mentioning the best part of this place which is its unbeatable location! It is located smack bang in the middle of the slopes right up the mountain so no need for ski shuttles or cars here. All these things coupled together allowed us to have a truly wonderful stay and one we are already planning to renew before the end of the season. This is a great find and we feel very happy to have been fortunate enough to stumble upon it and are therefore eager to pass on the word!

This was our 4th. Year at the Courcheneige, Our party was from one year to 70 yrs. 14 in Total. Once again the whole experience was first class, We thought the food last year was great but it was even better this year, Clean sheets, Hot water that never ended. Friendly staff from all departments, Last year we ate lunch at a variety of places, but this year the value and service for the lunch time menu on the terrace was unbeatable and we ate there every day. I cannott praise the Hotel and staff enough. Director Benoit was as ever in charge,he seems to work 24. 7. We will be back in 2012. The grandchildren have informed me. So if anybody out there is looking for the best value in Courchevel the Courcheneige is for you.

Our fourth visit to Courchevel and our stay at Hotel Courcheneige was by far the most enjoyable stay of all our trips. Ski in / ski out facility and extremely courteous staff makes all the difference.
The room was fantastic. Even though it was the basic room it far exceeded the standards of any alpine ski hotels that I've stayed at in the past. Exceptionally roomy, small balcony, fantastic housekeeping and excellent view of the mountains and piste.
We were well catered to with complimentary champagne and drinks the first night.
The in house ski rental was superb. I was issued new boots and skis with lockers and heated boot racks available on the premises.
Chefs prepared high quality meals nightly. Dinner consisted of choice of starters and entrées, cheeses and dessert buffet. Nice wine list as well.
Things that could be better -
Bar was small and bar staff was limited considering the size of the hotel. Bar tenders did not speak much English as well. Bar waiters could have been more attentive to customers as we often had to go to the bar and ask for drinks.
Seafood entries were not the best. From and American perspective, fish fillets should not be served with bones. Also, the langoustines were mushy and apparently not too fresh. Stick with the meats for meals.
You will be a captive audience here if you do not drive. The hotel is the highest hotel in Courchevel 1850 and is literally on the piste. The main way in to town is by the hotel shuttle which runs an hourly run Sunday through Friday. If you arrive on Saturday there is no hotel shuttle service and you’ll be taking a 20 Euro cab ride from the city center. If you decide to go out after hours to enjoy the 1850 night life you’ll also have to take a cab if you return after the shuttle ends its trips for the night. Also, the shuttle is first come, first serve and safely holds 6.
All things considered, I am now a regular customer of this fantastic establishment and hope to make Courcheneige my annual ski holiday location.
