If you're going to the Nice-region and like to stay not far from the airport but away from the crowds by the sea, take a few nights at this lovely villa. It's far from average...
In addition to what has been said here: there are few guests which makes it very calm, the tempo is slow (breakfast is served from 09.00) and the villa itself has great style in every detail. You just have to survive the tourist trap St. Paul with all its expensive restaurants. There are gems, but you have to be prepared to pay. A good choice is "Le Tilleul de Menthe" just inside the city gate to the left. Not cheap, but a good kitchen indeed. While in the area, you must not miss the "Fondation Maeght" art museum. It's a 15 min walk (upwards) from the hotel. The house itself is worth the visit and it's easy to see where the archithect of Villa St. Maxime got the inspiration...

What a wonderful place to stay, what a shame we only spent one night there!! We flew down to Nice to start our honeymoon and then just drove the very short distance up to Villa Maxime.
John and Ann were very welcoming and excellent hosts. The rooms are good, comfortable bed and views to die for. In the morning (after a delicous champagne breakfast) we took a short 10 minute stroll to St Paul de Vence and enjoyed wondering around the town.

This was not my first stay at the Villa and it won't be my last! This is a great boutique hotel in one of the best settings possible. Located in the hills overlooking the Mediterranean with a stunning view of the walled village of St. Paul de Vence, this hotel can't be beat. The contrast of the very modern hotel in a medieval setting is wonderful. I could sit outside on the patio and look at the view all day, but of course there's way too much to do to spend all day there. St. Paul itself is an easy walk with interesting shops and restaurants and great people watching. All the great towns of the Riviera are a short drive away.

The owners Ann and John are friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. Just walking in the front door, the vast expanses of marble, light and space draw you in. Everything feels very welcoming. The complimentary cocktail hour every evening offers a great chance to meet other residents of this small hotel if you so choose.

The extras that are included in the room rates are unusual, but appreciated - great hot breakfasts, cocktail hour every evening and a rolling bar for late nights - I especially liked grabbing a bottle of water on my way up to my room each evening. The rooms themselves are well-designed and comfortable - the beds are the best part!

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone
