Myself and partner wanted our first romantic visit to paris to be very special. We were on a budget being it was my birthday. We booked through our local agent and it never came cheap for the weekend including flight package and something nice in the room on our arrival for my birthday. When we arrived we were greated miserably, however we were polite, she gave us a key to our room. We struggled into the lift which was so small you could swing a cat!!once in our room it wasnt the one we asked for it was a twin when we asked for a double! it also didnt have any of the facilities that we were told we would have like a mini bar. No welcome or happy birthday surprise like we were promised. Back down in the tiny elevator to tell the receptionist but keeping our cool and smiles. She listened to our compaint banged about then handed us some keys to another room. once in the room it was very tiny but cosy and cleanish! The shower room was again tidy but small but much more updated than the bedroom. Sheets were changed every day and towels, however the flowery throw over was badley stained and wandered if it got changed once ayear! However we wernt going to let anything ruin our break and i surpose it was somewhere to put our heads. It was 10-15 min walk to the arc de triomphe and metro which was great exercise !lots oF bars etc around too! We paid 22 euros to use the red tour bus which took us everywhere and you can even use the tickets the next day . Use it! Great value to all the main attractions. Our first day got us out for 12 hours we were shattered when we returned to the hotel.Breakfast was bread, fruit and cereal which you needed to get up and down for 8ish if you want something to eat or it will be all gone by 9sih. We missed breakfast and wanted a lie in after a day on the go the previous day . From 6am the bin men can be heard shouting as they do their job and the breakfast delivers make some noice too .Dont have your room on the front of the hotel, across the road are lots of motor bikes also. The cleaners were also so noisey banging around from 8ish withe the vaccum etc and sure they kept banging outside our door as a hint to" get up we need to clean the room" ,even thou we put the do not disturb sign on the outer handle. Then the shower broke, then the bathroom door handle came off then the electric bedside light kept flickering and making a funny noice ,Talk about health and safety procedures!!! however we intended not to complain as this was a two star and you basically get what you pay for, if you want quality go up market and pay more.Sometimes you also just have to make the most of it . We still enjoyed our break and left with a smile!!
