Went to China Town and wanted to try a new restaurant so we picked Dragon City which is on the street down from the Chinese Arch.
Not a massive restaurant but has seating upstairs as well as downstairs, with downstairs being pretty full. We had no problem getting a table, and there was a really good choice on the menu. Main courses seem to average between £7 to £11, with rice being £2 for boiled and £2.50 for egg fried.
They also had advertised outside a 4 course meal for £9.50 per person which we went for, and which was excellent. Considering it was £18.50 per person for the banquet, the 4 course meal was excellent value and was in effect the same as a banquet. Consisted of soup, prawn crackers, spring rolls, seawood, chicken fried rice, a pork and chicken main dish and ice cream or coffee/tea/green tea. We were both pleasantly full. For information we got this deal on a Saturday night.
Service was good although a bit slow at first to take our order, and we didn't initially get given the 4 course menu. 10% is added to your bill for service charge automatically, and on this occasion our bill came to £28 and that included 2 alcoholic drinks. So for Manchester city centre it was really good value for money.
Decor wise it was quite simple. The carpet was a very heavy pile and you could feel that as you walked on it. White walls with dragon designs, but overall pleasant surroundings and not over the top.
When leaving we were thanked by the owner and the door held open, and we noticed that everyone got the same treatment. Highly enjoyable and food very fresh and will be going back.
