On our first trip to Ireland, we wanted to experience both the "big city" atmosphere of Dublin and the "country" experience of the small town Bed and Breakfast places along the way. Our first B&B experience was at Eamonn and Margaret's beautiful home in Castlebridge. What a wonderful experience. While we only stayed one night at the Maple Lodge, we had a fantastic time here. Upon our arrival after a long and somewhat anxious drive from Dublin, we were greeted warmly by Margaret who quickly gave us a list of opportunities to experience the local area. Margaret suggested a quick trip to the beach at Curracloe and what a beautiful visit that was. We spent an hour or so there and then, after a quick trip into Wexford to check out dinner spots for the evening, we returned to Maple Lodge for a relaxing time with other guests and to meet Eamonn.
The breakfast we had here was indescribable. Margaret's porridge was exceptional as was the presentation of the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, another fine selection. This home is beautifully appointed with comfortable rooms, lounge area, and a secure and roomy parking lot.
We would heartily recommend the Maple Lodge as a beautiful, friendly, and warm place to stay in County Wexford. We fully expect to stay with Margaret and Eamonn when our travels take us to this area again. There is not a better B&B experience for "first timers" to Ireland like us.
