Situated directly opposite the main train station, within walking distance of anywhere in the city that you might want to go, Garveys was a place we thought would be fine just because of how convienient it was in location. Thankfully that turned out only to be the start of what was a great weekend. There is a recession on, so sure we were attracted by the value for money on offer, but in fairness to the management the quality and service they provide is of a higher standard.
The rooms were spotless when we checked in, comfortable and spacious enough for our needs.
great bar food, seriously guys top class. i recommended the homemade burger, but all the food i had there over the three days wastop class.
galway has a great night life and Garveys turned out to be the ideal place to start (and finish) our socialising. Drink prices were lower that i was expecting having come to galway after our stay in Dublin, the atmoshere was warm and friendly, it was the type of place where we came down to the bar on friday evening knowing no-one but ten minutes later found ourselves deep in conversation with complete strangers. Apologies to all for inflicting Bryan Adams on you during the open mic night. when we come back next year we promise a whole new set list. A lovely place in a lovely City.
